Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! It’s officially spring here in DC â€“ the cherry blossoms are blooming, there are buds on my lilacs, peonies are coming up, and green is slowly returning to our bare, brown yard. Yay! Sadly, Sophie came home early yesterday with a fever, so I’m heading out a bit early today to take care of my sweet girl â€“ and hopefully she’ll be feeling well enough to enjoy some of this gorgeous spring weather soon. But in the meantime…

Evie’s Calligraphy Baby Announcements

Ashley from Lemon and LavenderÂ recently welcomed a baby girl â€“ Evelyn â€“ into her beautiful family. I love the birthday party invitations that Ashley designs for her children (Gavin’s camp-inspired invitations are some of my all time faves), so I was thrilled when she sent Evie’s birth announcement over! Ashley worked with calligrapher Joelle Duff from A Charming OccasionÂ to create the most darling announcement â€“ complete with Evie’s own personal monogram!

From Ashley:Â Our sometimes gypsy life inspired Miss Evie’s birth announcement. We currently reside in West Africa, and knowing that she would be making her first of hopefully many trips across the globeÂ by the tender age of 5 weeks, I wanted to incorporate that element in her announcement.

I enlisted the help of Joelle Duff of A Charming OccasionÂ for custom calligraphy. She lettered Evelyn’s full name as well as the shorter version of her name. Since she goes by Evie we used the small enclosure card for her Sip & See as a way to incorporate that part of her name.Â Wanting to include a little bit of Senegal we took newborn photos of Evie in a traditional Senegalese basket to slip into navy 4bar envelopes. It’s always so fun to design for your own children and I was thrilled to have Joelle’s pretty work featured in the final design.

In addition to the announcement, I designed a monogram rubber stamp because let’s be honest you are never too young for your own monogram â€“ especially if you hail from the South!

Happy Weekend!

We’re supposed to have a couple of nice days â€“ and we’re heading to our first Caps gameÂ since Sophie was born with friends on Saturday! Sophie won’t be joining us for this excursion, but I am excited to take her to her first real hockey game at some point. I think she’d love it! But in the meantime…

Lisa’s Rainbow Geometric Baby Shower Invitations

Designer Lisa Bardot from The Goodness and her husband Geoff welcomed their first child â€“ a baby boy! â€“ in January. For their baby shower, Lisa and Geoff decided to forgo a traditional shower in favor of a co-ed baby party (a concept that I’m personally very fond of). To keep things happy and gender-neutral, Lisa went with a bright rainbow color palette with lots of geometric shapes. So fun!

From Lisa:Â When we got to thinking about our baby shower, my husband and I knew we did not want a traditional shower. More of a big celebration with all of our friends and family, and so we decided to have a “Baby Party” instead! It was for women, men, and kids with lots of fun, food, and drinks. We had a photo booth, taco cart, dessert bar, gender raffle, and a just a couple of fun games.

The theme for the baby’s room is hip, modern, fun, geometric, and COLORFUL. So we decided that would also be the theme of the party. Plus we hadn’t yet announced the gender of our baby and we were really big on being gender neutral. The invitations used a very colorful triangle background with bold white text on top.

Simple kraft paper envelopes complemented the colorful invitations. One of my favorite details is the envelope liner with “baby” song lyrics on the inside. I also designed matching thank you cards.

I designed a few other items for the party including signage, guestbook pages for our photo booth guestbook, gender raffle tickets, and “new parent coupons” (a fabulous idea by my sister!). DÃ©cor included lots of rainbow triangle and circle garland, along with a rainbow of floral arrangements on the tables outside.Â The party was absolutely perfect and tons of fun!
