Stationery A-Z: Will You Be My Bridesmaid Cards

Since winter is the most popular time of the year to get engaged, chances are there are a few of you getting ready to ask friends and family to be in your wedding party! If you aren’t able to ask in person, we HIGHLY recommend sending a beautifully designed card to ask that all important question. Although bridesmaid cards are the main our roundup below, we know and love that wedding parties come in all shapes, sizes, and roles. There’s pretty much every option you can think of available, but we’ve selected our favorites below:

12. Yet another beautiful hand lettered and dip dyed design (via Moglea).

Stationery A-Z: Good Luck Cards

Good luck cards can be a sweet way to send a friend or family member an uplifting message of encouragement before a big event. Whether it’s a second interview for a new job, a meeting for a potential new home, a big date with someone exciting or an impending presentation they’ve been gearing up for months, a reminder that you are rooting for them is always appreciated. With so many fun choices out there, go forth and share that note of hopefulness!

Seasonal Stationery: Valentine’s Day cards for friends

If you missed our first two Valentine’s Day greeting card round-ups, be sure to check out our traditional and romantic selections. It’s common to celebrate romantic love with a spouse or life partner but less so to celebrate the love between friends… so let’s change that! A good friend can be the best support system, the most fun, and a real joy to spend time with. Why not let them know how much you really do care about them? If a sentimental expression of affection isn’t your thing, what about a shared message of joint distaste for the holiday? There’s plenty of love to go around for both Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day (if that’s more your speed). Here are a few favorite Valentine’s Day cards for friends!

1. Remember on Parks and Rec (RIP) when Leslie Knope describes her Galentine’s Day breakfast tradition as “Lilith Fair minus the angst and plus frittatas”? Yeah, this Lark + Raven card is kinda like that.

2. This People I’ve Loved design seems especially relevant in our current political climate. Let’s celebrate love people!

3. Valentine’s Day IS cheesy. Let’s just call a spade a spade, shall we? From Hello!Lucky.

4. Celebrate all your wonderful friends on this Valentine’s day with 9th Letterpress’s gold foil message and abstract design.

5. What better way to let your BFF know how much you love her than with sparkles?! From Farewell Paperie.

6. Have a “Romy and Michele” day by sharing this sentiment of friendship from Chalkscribe.

7. Valentine’s day isn’t for all people (or all cats), so share your distaste with this illustration by Anke Weckmann for Red Cap Cards.

8. So many pop culture references in here! Tell your person how important they are to you with this design from UK-based I Am Nat.

9. We tend to feature Emily McDowell a lot here, but her copywriting is a) phenomenal, and b) couldn’t be more on point. Also, kittens.

10. Let’s say Valentine’s Day really isn’t your thing. But drinking is. Phoenix Paper Co has got you covered.

11. Why fight it? Make them laugh with this red foil die cut shark card from The Social Type.

The World of Illustration: Jia Guo

Hello friends! I kicked off January with some big goals in mind, in true new year’s fashion. And then I promptly went searching for pretty illustrations related to stuff I’m saving for and making wishes on stars for — everything including a perfect knit winter sweater, a home of our own, and maybe even some travel thrown in to see friends in big cities. So it was rather kismet when I stumbled on the Instagram account of Sydney-based illustrator and artist Jia Guo. Her illustrations were just the inspiration I was looking for on these frosty January days. Jen

Saturated colors and whimsical style makes this painterly illustration of sweaters one I’d love to frame and hang in my bedroom. (And I choose the blue-and-white fair isle style sweater for real life.)

This illustration looks seemingly simple and effortless, which is when you know art really speaks to you. I love how the color palette is a happy mix of sunset shades.

Anyone else dreaming of a lake home? The pickup truck is my favorite detail in this illustration by Jia.

Jia includes many home illustrations in her portfolio, including this illustration of a farm on an autumn day. I’ve never been to Australia, but these colors do feel like New England fall to me.

I love this fashion illustration Jia created of women in the 1960s. That was a great decade in style! The jackets with big pockets. The simple flare. And she uses a similar color palette in the train illustration, above, which gives it that retro modern vibe.

The World of Illustration: Jia Guo

A work in progress by Jia Guo, who calls herself a crazy cat lady (some of my favorite people go by the same label).

Jia’s recent illustration of the day included cats as a fun welcome to the new year. For a peek into more of her work, you can check out Jia Guo Illustration. Anything big on your wishlist for the new year? Let me know and I’ll be sure to scout out some illustrations to match up! See you soon, friends!
