Twelve Awesome 2017 Planners and Agendas

When I first started Oh So Beautiful Paper in 2008, it was nearly impossible to find a well-designed planner. I remember hunting for the best available options and just feeling SO disappointed. Well, fast forward eight years and we’ve got some seriously GORGEOUS planners on the market from some of my favorite companies. In fact, this year’s round up is our biggest yet, with twelve awesome 2017 planners and agendas – and there are even more cover and size options from the companies featured below! Yay for pretty planners!

Twelve Awesome 2017 Planners and Agendas

1. Rifle Paper Co. released their first-ever planner last year, and this year they’re offering four different cover options – plus a larger version for ultimate planning! The 17-month everyday agenda features monthly and weekly views, places to record important dates, and more. The pink desktop illustrated cover is my favorite design, but it’s so hard to choose!

2. The Ban.do 17-month agenda has a huge cult following, so if you’re already a member of the Ban.do Girl Gang chances are you grabbed your copy and started using it on August 1. But! If you’re still on the hunt for a great planner, Ban.do offers several different cover and size options, including this fun ice blue cover with hologram text. And there’s a TON of extras inside each planner, from stickers to coloring pages to monthly illustrations. So fun!

3. Sugar Paper just release their first-ever agenda, and it’s SUCH a beauty. Chambray cover with gold foil accents, extra thick paper, and a section to keep track of birthdays and thank you notes. Bonus? You can upgrade to one of three leather covers (including the most gorgeous pale pink) with monogramming options. Total luxury.

4. 17-month linen hardcover planners from Hadron Epoch with weekly and monthly views, space for notes, and a pocket in the back.

5.If you’re feeling overwhelmed by daily life, the Day Designer is all about providing a framework for balance, focus, and productivity. And it doesn’t hurt that the Day Designer flagship edition has the cutest cover options, from spotty dots to this fun palm frond cover!

6. A gorgeous navy linen cover with gold foil polka dots in this 2017 planner from Blushing Confetti

7. If a weekly agenda is more your style, I’m loving the new hardcover options from Rifle Paper Co.! The weekly agendas are wrapped in pink or navy book cloth and printed with gold foil – so pretty!

8. The 12-month planners from One Canoe Two offer plenty of room to doodle and write in the big open squares of the planner’s weekly and monthly views. I love this illustrated floral cover!

9. Loving this colorful rainbow stripe cover on the Simplified Planner from Emily Ley!

10. This 2017 planner from Fox & Fallow features a black fabric cover with copper foil and weekly views inside!

11. For the modern minimalist, check out these sleek and modern planners from Appointed Co.

12. The Get To Work Book is a mega planner for creative professionals and entrepreneurs. 246 pages with 12 motivational text prints that are perforated so you can keep them as art prints, full monthly calendars, Monday – Sunday week-at-a-glance spreads, space for notes and brainstorming, a “year-at-a-glance” spread with space to write plans, 14 “project breakdown” pages to help you complete large tasks, 13 “reflect and goal-set” pages to celebrate past successes and come up with action items for the next month, and a pocket on inside back cover. Whew!

So many great options! Which one is your favorite??

Happy Weekend!

Yay Friday! Do you all have fun pre-Halloween plans this weekend? Our neighborhood is hosting a big Halloween block party for all the kids in the area tonight, but official trick or treating is always on Halloween proper in DC, so we’ll have to wait until Monday for that. But in the meantime…

Black and White Foil Stamp Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

When a stylish boutique owner gets engaged and teams up with a design maven like Lauren of Blue Eye Brown Eye for her wedding stationery, you just know that invitation is going to pack a punch! These black and white foil stamp calligraphy wedding invitations are bold yet totally refined and elegant, and are complemented by colorful marbled envelope liners and curated vintage stamps! Lauren’s calligraphy is beautifully incorporated throughout and I love how the day of stationery pieces incorporate gold into the overall design aesthetic. Bold, unique, and timeless – what a great combo!

From Lauren: Vintage stamps. Marbled Liners. Classic black and white with pops of color. All of the makings of a beautiful and timeless wedding suite. Enter couple Sara Kate and Jason, a stylish match made in heaven. The bride is the owner of Sara Kate Studios, an eclectic boutique, styling company, and interior design power house out of Oklahoma City, and had a distinct vision to match her impeccable taste.

Mixing classic black and white with pops of color in the envelope liners and vintage stamps, their invitation perfectly represented them as a couple. We had a lot of fun pulling together the vintage stamp collection, representing artists, florals, a mix of colors, and geodes, which went along with the hand marbled envelope liners in shades of pinks, blues, golds, and blacks. Each liner was different, a detail I love to incorporate. It gives each invitation its own special and individual personality.

We incorporated foil printing in each element for this project, from invitations to day of pieces. For the invitation, black foil printing on thick, white cotton stock made the text pop and stand out, and white the white foil printing on black envelopes added drama. Mix that with white calligraphy on a black envelope, and you get a distinct look (and a personal favorite of mine).

For day of pieces, we transitioned from black and white to gold, incorporating calligraphy into the menu designs, and a custom hand drawn laurel wreath with their new last name monogram – L. We carried the gold through to the escort cards in a unique display: using a vintage bulb frame, a special piece of the bride’s.

The bride used her impeccable styling skills and composed each vignette for the paper prior to the wedding, making the images all the more special because they have her special touch.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Weekend everyone! Can you believe Halloween is just over a week away?? Sophie wants to be a fairy for Halloween, which means Alice will also be a fairy since she only ever wants to do the same things as Sophie. But I’m still trying to decide if I want to do something a bit more homemade for their costumes or go with a store-bought costume. We have fairy wings and wands, so I think all we’d really need is a dress? For those of you that are parents: do you also dress up with your kids for Halloween? I don’t see many parents in costume in our neighborhood, but I think it would be fun to do a family costume someday! Ah, well. In the meantime…

Whimsical Floral Adoption Baby Shower Invitations

Baby showers are just the best. They’re both a chance for parents-to-be to celebrate with family and friends and stock up on a few new baby essentials (OMGbabiesneedsomuchstuff). And seriously, there really are so many things that new parents need – including moms and dads becoming parents through adoption. I’m beyond thrilled and honored that the talented Kristy Rice of Momental Designs is sharing her whimsical floral adoption baby shower invitations with us today! The invitations feature Kristy’s signature vibrant hand painted florals, rose gold foil printing, and fabric envelope liners, these festive baby shower invitations – perfect for celebrating Kristy’s newest addition!

From Kristy: These invitations were very special for me as I created them for my own baby shower for my recent adoption. The invitations are loosely based on the paintings of artist, Frida Khalo, and a blooming cactus watercolor painting that I did. They are very whimsical, featuring a variety of different fun elements to help the overall aesthetic come to life!

The highlights of the design for me were the rose gold foil printing, fabric elements, and the individually hand painted components of the invitations. All pieces are hand painted using various techniques like gold spatter, bold aqua watercolor washes, and fuchsia free hand outlines on the menus.

The envelopes were lined with fabric for an added touch! To complement everything inside the envelopes, we featured calligraphy envelope addressing with colorful artwork on front and oversized vintage stamp composition.

Each guest wore paper flower crown, even the babies! Made from handmade, painted papers and greens, each crown had its own personality. Each seating card featured a personal free hand watercolor sketch that I made for guests based on their favorite flowers, favorite pet, favorite collectibles, favorite food, or a nickname. Seating cards were hung on a dip dyed fabric backdrop featuring a calligraphy laser cut wood sign and greenery.

The menus were die cut on shimmering gold stock with a nearly-neon pink painted edge. The edge painting was done a bit differently than usual as it was painted on the face of the menu along with the edge. Each menu was unique depending on how much pressure was applied to the brush during painting.

The vibrant floral aesthetic continued throughout the party with floral watercolor pattern placemats featuring dahlias, mulberries, vines and ranunculus. I had a blast putting together all the elements for this special day and making my vision come to life.
