Adrienne + Will’s Glamorous Gold Foil Art Deco Wedding Invitations

These Art Deco wedding invitations from Emily and Dianna of Fourth Year Studio are stunning! Inspired by the idea of a sparkly Great Gatsby-style reception, Emily and Dianna incorporated shiny gold foil, Art Deco design motifs, and classic black and white elements for a sophisticated vintage-inspired suite. Beautiful!

From Emily and Dianna: Adrienne’s fondness for the Art Deco era served as the springboard for our invitation design. We print all of our letterpress in house but it was so much fun to see the masters at Widby Printing print the gold foil for the main invitation on 220lb cotton paper.

A roll of metallic foil runs through the press and leaves the inverse design behind. Well, it was just too beautiful to throw away so we kept it (as seen above)!  The metal plate used for printing was given as a memento for Adrianne and Will.

The RSVP card was letterpress printed in black on 110lb cotton paper with a printed black envelope.  The set was wrapped in a black cover and tied together with delicate gold thread.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! It’s always busy the first week back after a holiday weekend, and this week was no exception! I’m busy preparing for a big project this weekend, which I’m excited to share with all of you soon! Andy and I also went over to meet the most adorable two-week old baby – who also happens to be the most chill newborn in the universe. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Sophie was ever that small! Amazing. Anyway, I’m heading off to prep for our big weekend project! But in the meantime…

Megan + Nick’s Calligraphy and Floral Wedding Announcements

Sally from la Happy created these gorgeous invitations for a destination wedding in France, along with equally beautiful announcements for those unable to attend the destination celebration. The suite combines Sally’s modern calligraphy with clean and simple text and a floral envelope liner for a hint of romance. Subtle stitched details and vintage postage were the perfect finishing touches. Love!

From Sally: Megan and Nick wanted the invitations and announcements for their July 5th destination wedding in France to have a clean, modern look with a hint of color. The invitations and announcements combine clean modern text, vintage typewriter type, and my custom modern calligraphy. We also added a vintage floral illustration to add a soft feel to the invitation suite. It was the perfect way to set the tone for a sweet, laid-back celebration of love!

The invitations and announcements were letterpress printed in charcoal gray ink on soft, bright white, extra thick cotton paper. The invitations and announcements were individually stitched with white and pink thread. The response cards were also letterpress printed onto soft, cotton paper with custom modern calligraphy, paired with a vintage typewriter font. The response envelopes were letterpress printed with the return address and paired with vintage postage.

The cotton envelopes were lined with a vintage floral pattern I created. The envelopes were calligraphed in a matching charcoal gray with a modern calligraphy style. We used vintage postage, including a stamp featuring the French flag as an ode to where the couple was married. Finally, the return addresses on the outer envelopes were letterpress printed in a blind imprint (no ink!) into the soft cotton paper.

Jill + Joe’s Rustic Colorado Wedding Invitations

We’re lucky to have the ladies of Antiquaria Design Studio here every couple of weeks to share fantastic DIY tutorials and ideas – and today I’m thrilled to share one of their beautiful custom design projects! Bailey and Emma recently worked with a couple planning a wedding in the Colorado mountains. They designed an elegant and rustic invitation suite with vintage-inspired details and hand drawn illustrations – including the iconic Colorado aspen leaf!

From Bailey and Emma: Jill and Joe came to us for a custom invitation suite that reflected their special love for the mountains (and their wedding location). They got married in Beaver Creek, Colorado in September. The invitation suite we created for them is rustic yet sophisticated with vintage-inspired fonts, hand drawn mountain illustrations, vintage postcards, and green accents.

The invitation suite was letterpress printed in charcoal gray ink and accompanied by a reproduction of a vintage postcard that included additional wedding invitation on the reverse side. Accents of moss green and chartreuse were brought in as accent envelopes for the thank you card and rehearsal dinner invitation.

An aspen leaf motif was carried through all the pieces, from the reply card to the chalet inspired monogram. We also carried the mountain imagery through to the day-of paper with program booklets (designed to fit inside the coat pockets of male guests), menus, and escort cards.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful (and restful) holiday weekend with friends and family – and wish those of you traveling for the holiday a safe journey! Sophie is recovering from yet another cold and ear infection, so we’re still trying to decide whether to go through with our travel plans or stay home for a quiet and cozy holiday with just the three of us. Either way, I’m looking forward to a much-needed long weekend! But in the meantime…
