DIY Rubber Stamp Photo Card Save the Dates

It’s the ladies of Antiquaria, back with another fabulous and creative DIY project for you!  This week they’re here with some awesome DIY photo card save the dates!

Need a fabulous and unique way to incorporate your engagement shoot into your save the date?  We’ve got the solution for you: hand stamped photo save the date cards!  We are constantly inspired by all the wonderful engagement shoots that folks are putting together these days, and wanted to find a way to incorporate that imagery with rubber stamps.  We think the results are truly adorable and your family and friends will love receiving a sweet photo of the two of you.

DIY Photo Card Save the Date

Step One: Cut paper to a size A9 card (5.5″ x 8.5″).  Use photo corners (our most recent obsession) to secure your (3″ x 5″) photo to the card.  You just stick them on each corner to activate and the adhesive, center over the paper and press down to secure.

Step Two: This step will take two stamps, a monogram (we used our ribbons & banners monogram) and a website stamp (we used our calligraphy accent website stamp).  Ink each stamp thoroughly, position and stamp down on a hard, even surface.  Let dry.

Step Three: Cut paper to (4″ x 4.5″).  Ink a save the date stamp (we used our “Circus” save the date stamp) and make print on a hard surface.  Make sure when stamping, you apply moderate and even pressure over the entire stamp.  Let dry before assembly.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  This week was a lot of fun, from a date night with my husband to hanging out with Kyle from Power + Light Press in her Moveable Type Truck last night!  You might remember Kyle’s letterpress kickstarter project from last year, and she’s spending a few days in the DC area this week.  So if you want to see what this letterpress business is all about (and try out a couple of presses yourself), you can go visit Kyle near the Dupont Circle metro this afternoon from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. or go see her in Baltimore this weekend!  For folks outside of the DC area, check out the rest of her tour dates right here.  But in the meantime…

This is the print that I made last night with Kyle.  Willie Nelson was playing a concert across the street.  Ha!

…a few links for your weekend!

Melissa + Francisco’s Spanish Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

It’s always a good day when a wedding invitation from Kathryn at Blackbird Letterpress shows up in my inbox.  Kathryn created these gorgeous wedding invitations for an upcoming wedding in Uruguay; the invitation design was inspired by a lighthouse near the wedding venue.  The invitation features the beautiful hand lettering of Betsy Dunlap (written in Spanish!), and I love that the bride and groom added a wax seal to the envelope prior to mailing the invitations out to their guests!

From Kathryn: The bride and groom are getting married in Uruguay.  Melissa, the bride, sent me a few photos of the shore and lighthouse where they were getting married and I designed from there.  The couple are originally from Argentina and Venezuela and live in Miami.  The invitation is written in Spanish in Betsy Dunlap’s beautiful calligraphy.  Melissa also wrote a sweet post about the invitations on her blog showing a beautiful wax seal detail they added to the envelope.

Thanks Kathryn!

Pretty Paper in the Office: Hand Drawn

Being a fan of hand lettering, it should come as no surprise that any hand drawn element would catch my eye.  The perfectly imperfect touch adds just the right amount of charm and whimsy to any blank canvas, or in this case, any blank sheet of paper.  Inspired by drawings, doodles, and brushstrokes, I’ve put together a round up that will soften the straight and narrow lines of office stationery.

Hand drawn inspired office stationery roundup
No. 1 Sailboats notepad by Linda & Harriett; No. 2 Address book with handmade cover by My Name Is Rabbit; No. 3 Letterpress sticker set by 1 canoe 2; No. 4 Herringbone jotter by Wit & Whistle; No. 5 Monogrammed letterpress stationery set by Book Meat

Last, but certainly not least, is This Year’s Flowers (a stationery set) by Paper & Type.  I was sold upon seeing the romantic floral illustrations on the back of each sheet.  Paper & Type recommends that letters be four pages in length so that, once put together, you will have also mailed a piece of art!

{happy weekend!}

Yet another week that flew by much too quickly (at least for me)!  This weekend my husband and I are heading to upstate New York to spend time with my husband’s family and visit our brand new niece!   I’m bracing myself for cold weather and hoping to catch a glimpse of the changing leaves that I’ve heard are so pretty in the region (although the leaves have been very pretty here in DC, too).  But in the meantime…
