Watercolor Popsicle Birthday Party Invitations

Aaaah! How cute are these calligraphy and watercolor popsicle birthday party invitations?? Created by calligrapher Holly Everett of Maison Everett in collaboration with her client, each invitation is watercolored by hand – so each one is totally unique! Plus the bright color palette and popsicle motif is totally perfect for a first birthday in the middle of summer. Love!

From Holly: I wanted to share a recent birthday invitation I created alongside my client, Britney Smith, for her daughter’s first birthday. She wanted something colorful and fun for an outdoor summer party. After sketching out a few ideas, we decided on a popsicle template with a white background. I did the custom calligraphy and lettering on both sides, and she then printed and watercolored them by hand to make each one a little different for each of their guests. She carried the colors from the invitation into the party decor making for a bright, joyful summer celebration!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! I’m super excited for this weekend – I’m heading up to New York to attend NYNOW! After skipping the summer show (I was 8 months pregnant with Alice at the time), I’m looking forward to saying hello to all my exhibitor friends in person and see all their new goodies! You can walk the show with me via Instagram (I’ll be walking Sunday and Monday), and of course I’ll be sure to share a few favorites here after I get back. But in the meantime…

Ilana + Gregg’s Modern Outdoorsy Wedding Invitations

I featured the outdoors-inspired save the dates of Ilana from Sugar and Type over the summer – and I’m so excited that Ilana is back today with her wedding invitations! Ilana continued the playful outdoor vibe from the save the dates, combining modern design elements with kraft paper envelopes and plaid patterns!

From Ilana: When we started planning our wedding, we knew it’d be playful and outdoors, and it was so fun to apply that vision to our invitations and wedding stationery. We wanted the wording to be friendly, casual, and a bit silly. I used kraft paper envelopes with a custom plaid liner to match Gregg and his groomsmen’s shirts.

We definitely wanted to include a map since our ceremony was in the middle of a park and we didn’t want anyone to get lost! We included an itinerary for our out of town guests, and a list of our favorite places waiting for them in their hotel room when they arrived so they could explore the area! We really wanted a cohesive feel with our save the dates, so we took the one bike from that piece and added a second bike to symbolize our journey together.

  The fun part was the text messages and phone calls we got asking “should we dress like we’re going to play with puppies in the park, or for a wedding?” We had a great and fun day and I can’t wait to share more pictures from it!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Today little Alice turns one month old! With Sophie, the newborn stage felt like an eternity – but we wondered if things would be different the second time around since we (now) know how fleeting these early days really are. I’m still not the biggest fan of the newborn stage (I’m much happier when babies start smiling – usually around 8 weeks), but it does feel like these first (hard) few weeks have just flown by! We’ll be celebrating Alice’s first month birthday with take out and doughnuts tonight – but in the meantime…

Chris + Sara’s Watercolor Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

Sigh. There’s just something so romantic about modern calligraphy. And combine calligraphy with watercolor washes inspired by the sea? Total swoon! Victoria of Moira Design Studio created these one of a kind watercolor and calligraphy wedding invitations for a casual wedding on the Maryland shore. Gorgeous!

From Victoria: Ocean sea breezes and the airy shades of the shore inspired this Maryland seaside invitation suite. We wanted to create a feel of open air and summer breezes. This casual wedding incorporated loose linen table runners, rustic wood tables, driftwood, and pale wood Louis style chairs. The suite features an open and modern calligraphy style in a medium grey tone, and is paired with watercolor washes in shades of blue.

Each envelope was delicately painted with a watercolor wash to match the suite, lined in watercolor paper and addressed in the same sloped and loose calligraphy style. The simple map of the Maryland coast depicts the strong blues of the ocean against the sand and points guests in the direction of the ceremony and hotel. The suite was a perfect fit for the casual afternoon summer affair.
