Karie + Ryan’s Gold Foil Rock n’ Roll Wedding Invitations

The ladies of Primele are known for their beautiful hand lettering, but these invitations prove that they also create some really amazing custom designs!  Patricia from Primele sent over these fabulous custom invitations that she created for a wedding at the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.  I love the way she incorporated gold foil text over an abstract painting for a modern-meets-glam design!

From Patricia:  I loved, loved this creating this invitation suite.  I knew I was interested when the bride mentioned she was getting married at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but I was completely sold when she sent over her selection for bridesmaids dresses.  In the end the bridesmaid’s painterly Andrew Marc dresses played a significant inspirational role in the design of Karie and Ryan’s invitation suite.

For the invitation, we went with an artful grunge look and dressed it up with gold foil text over the offset printed painting.

We created double-sided reply cards, and for an element of fun we played up the wording and added a coordinating spot of gold foil.  We also included a map for guests with icons of key destinations.

Calligraphy Wedding Party Thank You Cards

Continuing some of the hand lettering love from yesterday, calligrapher Amy Lee from Storied Ink Studio sent over these lovely calligraphy thank you cards for wedding party attendants.  The cards are inspired by poems by George Herbert.  What a beautiful way to thank your maid of honor and bridesmaids for all of their help during the wedding planning process!

From Amy: I personally love it when design enhances the meaning of a written sentiment.  This particular card was inspired by this philosophy, and by the pattern poems of George Herbert.  Each A2-size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card is hand lettered with dip pen calligraphy to bring a personal touch to this special detail of your wedding.

Thanks Amy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone!  I’m heading off for the long weekend – and crossing my fingers that we don’t run into too much traffic as we make our way north this afternoon.  I’ll be back on Monday with a beautiful set of wedding invitations, holiday cards, and lots more.  I hope you all have a wonderful and happy holiday weekend!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!  This week was a lot of fun, from a date night with my husband to hanging out with Kyle from Power + Light Press in her Moveable Type Truck last night!  You might remember Kyle’s letterpress kickstarter project from last year, and she’s spending a few days in the DC area this week.  So if you want to see what this letterpress business is all about (and try out a couple of presses yourself), you can go visit Kyle near the Dupont Circle metro this afternoon from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. or go see her in Baltimore this weekend!  For folks outside of the DC area, check out the rest of her tour dates right here.  But in the meantime…

This is the print that I made last night with Kyle.  Willie Nelson was playing a concert across the street.  Ha!

That’s it for me this week!  We’ve got a fun cocktail recipe coming up a bit later this afternoon – but here’s a hint: it’ll help keep you warm!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  I’m still trying to figure out how the week went by so quickly, but I’m glad to be back home in DC after spending a few days in New York and New Jersey.  Right now I’m looking forward to a night out with friends this evening followed by a lazy weekend.  But in the meantime…
