Modern + Floral Custom Social Stationery

After sharing our moving announcements yesterday, I’m still on an orangey-red and turquoise kick – such a fun color combination for summer!  Megan from Toast and Laurel recently created beautiful custom letterpress stationery for a client, featuring a sweet floral design detail and bright envelope liners.  With stationery as pretty as this, I’d want to send letters to everyone I know!

From Megan:  My lovely client asked for an elegant yet whimsical design that incorporated her initial, some sort of floral detail, a feminine font, and a bright color palette of orange and blue.  The end result is a stylish, simple stationery suite… one of my absolute favorite designs!

The flat note cards were letterpress printed with two inks on Crane’s Lettra Pearl White cardstock & the envelopes are custom lined with a bright orange solid paper from French Paper Company.  The back of the envelope features a coordinating return address letterpress printed in blue.

Laura’s Modern Chevron Stripe + Kraft Save the Dates

As much as I love bright pops of color, show me something with the right combination of neutrals and clean design and I’m instantly in love.  This is absolutely the case with the save the dates that Laura from Lande & Maze created for her own wedding later this summer.  Laura combined screen printed chevron stripes with kraft paper with individually hand typed text for a unique, personal, and beautifully understated save the date.

From Laura: Since I design printed materials for weddings all the time, it was a challenge to actually design something for myself.  My fiancé Thomas and I are planning a vintage modern wedding, with neutral colors and textures.  My save the dates are just a little hint of ephemera to represent the day.

I decided to use alternative printing methods to help stay within my budget and set the tone.  I hand screen printed a light gray chevron pattern on brown kraft paper for the enclosure.  Each save the date was typed individually and all the envelopes were addressed on my vintage typewriter.  The inside of the save the date reveals our wedding date and a black and white engagement photo mounted with photo corners.

Just gorgeous Laura!

Our Moving Announcements

This definitely falls in the waaaay overdue category, but after spending all weekend painting my bedroom, I remembered that I never shared my own moving announcements with all of you!  I’m thrilled to finally correct this oversight, and I hope you all love them as much as I do!

My husband and I moved into a new apartment in January of 2010, and of course I wanted real moving announcements to send to our closest family and friends.  We worked with my friend Katie from Petal and Print, who gifted us with these amazing announcements as a housewarming present.  I wanted bright pops of color and my husband’s favorite color is blue, so we settled on a fun color palette of orange, red, and turquoise with a floral wreath illustration and soft gray accents.

I also really loved the idea of somehow incorporating fabric (something I’d originally wanted, but wasn’t able, to do with our wedding invitations), so Katie came up with the fabulous idea of enclosing each announcement in a simple linen pocket, which was then placed inside the mailing envelope.  Katie is seriously amazing – she made each individual linen pocket on her sewing machine and then attached a matching paper tag with our initials.

The complete announcement was enclosed in a pewter gray envelope with a wrap-around mailing label and vintage postage stamps.  I found these awesome state bird postage stamps and tried to match recipients with the appropriate state (or at least something close by, since I only had one sheet).

The announcements were everything that we wanted them to be – playful, quirky, joyful and incredibly beautiful!  Thanks again Katie!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  This week practically flew by (as is often the case after a holiday weekend), but I’m looking forward to the weekend – even though painting my bedroom is the most exciting thing I have planned.  I’m trying to check some home projects off my to do list before my husband comes home in a couple of months, and although painting is tedious work I’m looking forward to a bit of change.  But in the meantime…
