Best of 2017: Adorable Baby Announcements and Shower Invitations

Aaaah, babies! Even before I became a mom, I loved seeing festive and exuberant baby shower invitations, sweet birth announcements, and even fun birthday party invitations! Let’s take a look back at some of our favorite adorable baby announcements and shower invitations (and one first birthday party invitation!) from the year, from copper foil baby shower invitations to vellum first birthday party invitations!

Alana of Bourne Paper Co. sent two adorable baby stationery projects in 2017 â€“ first, the invitations for her baby shower! The copper foil stars are the perfect complement to the crisp and clean modern design!

And a bit later in the year, Alana shared the sweet birth announcements for her daughter, Peyton â€“ with beautiful calligraphy by Anne Robin and a fun batik-inspired envelope liner!

Vellum was one of the biggest trends of 2017 â€“ and I’m expecting we’ll continue to see more of this translucent material in 2018! How lovely is this eucalyptus overlay on these first birthday party invitations from Mint for Hue??

Best of 2017: DIY

For our next look back at favorite posts in 2017, I’m recapping some favorite DIY projects from the year! 2017 was a bit of a transition year for me; up until now I’ve always focused on smaller scale DIY projects since I photographed everything in my home office â€“ which presented quite a few space and logistical challenges! Now that I have Common Room Studio, I’m excited to move towards larger party inspiration posts in addition to smaller DIY projects. Here are a few favorite projects from the year!

2017 was the year that I discovered the magic of nail transfer foils! I used them to make hologram Easter eggs back in March and hologram Christmas ornaments just a few weeks ago. I have a few more ideas for ways to use these versatile little foils, so you’ll definitely see them pop up in a project or two in 2018!

Matisse’s paper cuts inspired a few DIY projects throughout the year, and they ended up being some of my favorite projects to date! Our first Matisse-inspired project of the year involved a colorful paper garland to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fiskars Original Orange-handled Scissors in September!

And then I made Matisse-inspired pumpkins in October! They were so cute! I originally thought black and white pumpkins would work best, but that pink painted pumpkin was easily my favorite of the bunch.

This next project is a personal fave â€“ DIY iridescent paper prize ribbons that I made for my daughter’s preschool graduation! These ribbons are such a fun and easy way to celebrate a milestone event, or even to help cheer up a friend or co-worker.

Some of my favorite projects are also the most simple. These DIY watercolor and gold leaf gift tags involve just a quick stripe of watercolor paint and some gold leaf, but I love the understated beauty of the final result!

Best of 2017: Understated and Romantic Wedding Invitations

Best of 2017: Playful and Colorful Wedding Invitations

It’s always hard to jump back into things after a long holiday break, so this week I thought I’d ease us back in with a recap of some of our favorite content from 2017! I started Oh So Beautiful Paper way way back in 2008 (it’ll be my 10 year anniversary in September!) with the goal of highlighting amazing wedding invitation designs, and it’s still such a privilege to showcase so many beautiful invitations each year. Let’s start with a few of our favorite playful and colorful wedding invitations!

Happy New Year everyone! We’ll be back officially tomorrow to kick off a quick review of our favorite posts from 2017 before jumping into brand new 2018 posts, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging for your January 2018 wallpapers!
