Megan + Mike’s Whimsical Pink and Gold Confetti Wedding Invitations

After sending out their seaside save the dates, Megan and Mike decided to go in a more celebratory direction for their wedding invitations. Nichole from Coral Pheasant created a vibrant design inspired by Kate Spade, champagne, and confetti. The invitation suite was letterpress printed in bright pink and gold foil – these invitations practically sparkle!

From Nichole: Megan loves Kate Spade and all things paper – a girl after my own heart! She knew right away that she wanted her wedding invitations to reflect the playful aesthetic of Kate Spade. The result was the epitome of all things fun and celebratory: champagne, chevron pattern, and confetti in shades of punchy pink and gold.

The invitation combines a playful script font with a quirky serif and gold confetti. The individual pieces are a mix of letterpress and gold foil on heavy weight cotton Lettra paper, with the main invitation edge tinted in bright pink for an extra pop of color.

The individual pieces were stacked according to size and tied with a navy silk ribbon. The topmost item was a pink coin envelope with a gold glitter wedding website card – a simple piece that delighted everyone when they opened the envelope!

In researching ideas for Megan and Mike’s invitation, I came upon a quote from Jane Austen’s Emma. It reads: “It darted through her with the speed of an arrow that Mr. Knightly must marry no one but herself!” I had already incorporated the arrow as a graphic element and the quote paired beautifully with the design with one slight modification: Mr. Knighly was replaced with the groom’s last name. It was a perfect fit! We incorporated the quote into the chevron pattern envelope liner.

{happy weekend!}

What. A. Week. While we weathered the storm pretty well here in DC, my thoughts have been with those in New York and New Jersey affected by Hurricane Sandy.  The images and stories of the destruction are completely overwhelming and I know the road to recovery, much less the restoration of power, will be a long one.  When I haven’t been completely glued to the news, somewhere between last weekend and today, my little Sophie suddenly stopped looking like a newborn and started looking like a real baby.  She’s getting bigger each and every day, even though she’s still smaller at 7 weeks than some newborns, she’s paying closer attention to objects, and she’s smiling at us!  The smiles just make my heart melt.  This weekend we’re planning to visit our favorite flea market and relax at home, but in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday – when I’ll start sharing some of my favorite holiday cards! xoxo

Ashley + Beau’s Classic Navy and White Wedding Invitations

Navy and white is a classic combination, and it proved to be just right for achieving the balance of modern and formal in Ashley and Beau’s wedding invitations.  Designer Gretchen Berry chose classic fonts and an elegant blind deboss detail to complete the design.

From Gretchen: Ashley and Beau live in the preppy lakeside city of Wayzata, Minnesota. They were married at a church in Wayzata with the reception at the Lafeytte Country Club. They wanted their invitations to have the style and feel of the lake but without being too nautical: preppy and modern yet formal and classic.

I created a custom two-pocket folder with Ashley and Beau’s logo blind debossed on the front. We used a navy linen card stock to create the folder, which was a great accent to the bright white cotton stock we used for the invitation pieces. The navy letterpress text in classic fonts makes a formal and masculine statement, while the blind debossed elements create a romantic and modern look.

The long and narrow reception card showcases the plume of the debossed design. The reply card and map were simple one color letterpress pieces that complemented the invitation style.

Alison + Nick’s Whimsical Screen Printed Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  I’ve had the pleasure of featuring some of the illustrated nautical wedding invitations from Diane at Faye + Co., and I’m thrilled to be starting the week with this whimsical invitation suite.  I’m loving the bold color palette featuring orange ink screen printed on navy paper – and of course Diane’s gorgeous lettering!

From Diane: This wedding invitation suite uses hand-drawn lettering and a touch of floral graphics on the envelope liner.  Alison and Nick wanted something unique to fit the style of their celebration.  The invitation and rsvp card  were screen printed using gray and orange inks on navy blue stock.

Navy + Gold Foil Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

Since we’re on the topic of gorgeous calligraphy today, I thought I’d share one of my favorite wedding invitations from the last couple of years.  This stunning navy and gold foil invitation was designed by the bride, Kate, and features calligraphy from Plurabelle.  I’m particularly drawn to the modern sophistication of the calligraphy, while the gold foil elements make everything fun and festive.  Love!
