Party Paper: A Modern Circus Party

I had red and white stripes on the brain today which, when paired with peanuts, elephants and pom poms… turns perfectly into a modern circus party! This is a fun and simple take on a classic party theme that can span so many ages, from baby’s first birthday on up! —Kelly

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! I’m still in a festive mood after our modern Tiki party earlier this week – I hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed putting all the details together! And the gorgeous (totally unseasonal) weather we’re experiencing in DC this week definitely helps me stay in a happy mood. This weekend I’m excited to check out the annual Lotus Festival at the Aquatic Gardens, especially since the lotus and water lilies are at peak bloom this time of year! But in the meantime…

Party Paper: A Watermelon Party

We all know the pineapple is the fruit of the moment, but here on OSBP it seems the watermelon is trying to snag the spotlight! So today, I’m helping it along on its mission with some fun paper goods for the perfect watermelon party! This would be such a fun theme for a picnic birthday or a summer baby shower. Just add fruit! (Ok, and maybe some ice cream too… we can’t let the watermelon have all the fun!) —Kelly

Happy Friday everyone! And thank you all so much for your kind comments, emails, and tweets about our happy personal announcement! Your messages really do mean the world to me. This was another busy week with lots of preparations for the National Stationery Show, which I can’t wait to share with you soon! But in the meantime…

California!

Hello again! We’re happily home again after a refreshing week out in California – big hugs to Ladyfingers Letterpress and 9th Letter Press for filling in while I was away! Such talented ladies, don’t you think? Before I jump back into our regular content, I thought I’d share some photos of our trip! We started the week off with a family vacation in Big Bear, then spent a few days in LA visiting friends before heading back home. It was a wonderful week!

We landed in LA and drove straight up to Big Bear to join the rest of my family. Mountains! We don’t get to see those very often.

First boat ride! Sophie wasn’t crazy about the life jacket, which in all fairness was way too big for her. But she loved being out on the water!

She even managed to take a half hour nap – that kid can sleep just about anywhere.

My dad, happily driving his family around Big Bear Lake.

Big Bear has the saddest (but sweetest) little zoo where they rehabilitate animals from the area. I hope they can begin construction on their new – and much bigger – site soon. You can help by donating here.

On to LA! We rented an apartment with an organic garden – and a tortoise named George! Sophie was in heaven.

Dear Lemonade, will you please open up in DC?? The watermelon rosemary lemonade was beyond delicious… I’ve been craving it ever since we got home!

It was great to catch up with some of our LA friends – Kelly, Audrey, and Joy. Sophie was in awe of Ruby, and in particular her ability to run all over the place. It was so cute to watch Sophie want to do everything that Ruby was doing! And that Radio Flyer car is totally going on Sophie’s birthday list.

First time at the beach! She liked the seagulls, but the ocean… not so much. It was a short trip.
