Happy Weekend + Reader Survey!

Happy Friday everyone! Before we all go running off for the weekend, would you mind filling out a quick reader survey? It has been more than a year since the last one – and we’ve added a lot of new content to Oh So Beautiful Paper since then! I’d love your feedback as I prepare to make more changes to Oh So Beautiful Paper in the coming year (and hopefully make it better than ever!) You can find the short survey right here. But in the meantime…

Cute Toddler Bedding

We’re getting ready to make some big changes to the nursery: preparation both for a shared nursery after baby no. 2 arrives in September and for Sophie to move to a toddler bed! Sophie isn’t quite ready just yet, but we’re pretty sure she’ll be there in a couple of months so I’ve been keeping an eye on cute toddler bedding in anticipation. Today I thought I’d round up a few of my favorite finds!

Sophie Style: Summer 2014

Thanks to the Longest Winter Ever, we pretty much skipped straight from winter layers into summer clothes, which means lots of short sleeves, dresses, and light fabrics. And Sophie is growing like a weed these days – particularly when it comes to shoes – so it’s time for a wardrobe update! Here are a few summer pieces that I have my eye on for Sophie these days:

Happy Weekend!

It has been such a whirlwind week, with three and a half days at the National Stationery Show, one big Paper Party (more on that next week!), and very very little sleep. And despite the sore feet and general exhaustion that always follows the show, my heart feels like it’s about to burst with happiness after meeting and spending time with so many amazing people at the show. I really do love our stationery community! I’ll be back to share lots more from the show next week, but in the meantime…

Lauren’s Kentucky Derby Day Party Invitations

After moving to a new house last year, designer Lauren Chism is getting ready to host her first big party! Fueled by her husband’s enthusiasm for the Kentucky Derby, they’re planning a fun Derby Day party full of mint juleps, big hats, and bow ties. For the invitations, Lauren went with a preppy navy and green infographic design with a striped pattern on the back. So cute!

From LaurenHaving moved from a condo to a house last year, we have enjoyed being able to entertain a bit more. We don’t typically host big parties, but are giving it a go this weekend and throwing a Derby Day party.

My husband has a real soft spot for the Kentucky Derby – it might be the bow-ties or mint juleps, I don’t know –  but his enthusiasm is infectious and is quickly turning this into an annual weekend for our family and friends. I can’t pass up an opportunity for paper goods, so I wanted to send invitations, but really struggled with a way to merge classic derby themes with the fun casual party we wanted to host. Also, when you run an invitation business, turns out there’s not a lot of time for your own invitations!

With a looming deadline of send invitations or just opting for an evite, I was pretty stuck. In an attempt to get me out of my designer’s block, my husband was listing themes, facts and ideas about the derby and it hit me: we should do an infographic! We then compiled all the details we wanted to included, and filled the rest in with fun facts about the derby. It all came together easily after that. They were digitally printed in a fun layout with a preppy striped pattern on the back.

I wanted it to feel casual and fun and get people excited to grab their hats, bow ties and cute kids and enjoy the Derby with us. It was a nice collaborative effort and I really love how they turned out.
