Cards of Love and Solidarity

Did you march on Saturday? Either here in Washington, DC or in one of the sister marches across the country or around the world? I marched here in DC, with my husband, some close friends, and all of our children. It was a beautiful thing to see so many people (probably more people than I’ve ever seen in one place) marching together for tolerance, respect, inclusion, equal rights for all, and so much more. Making their voices heard in a peaceful way. Everywhere I looked, all I could see was PEOPLE. It gave me so much hope. So many of the signs that I saw involved messages of love and kindness, so I thought I’d start the week with a quick round up of cards to help keep that message going. Cards with simple but powerful messages of love, solidarity, encouragement, and support – all things that I know I’ll be holding dear for the next four years.

Cards of Love and Solidarity

1. laLa Grace for Love is Mightier

2. Send a message of support with this card from Heartell Press

3. E. Frances Paper

4. Love and solidarity in one card from And Here We Are

5. Love is love (is love is love is love) from Heart Swell Co.

6. Love in the prettiest indigo brush letters from Sycamore Street Press

7. + 8. Sweet and simple gold hearts from Sugar Paper and Parrott Design Studio

9. Gorgeous gold foil calligraphy and indigo marbling from Antiquaria

10. Wild Ink Press

11. L-O-V-E from Idlewild Co.

12. One of my favorite cards from Our Heiday

p.s. Stationers – I think I’ll make this a regular feature throughout the year, or as long as needed. If you have cards that represent the values of love, kindness, inclusiveness, and solidarity, please feel free to send them our way! You can email them to submissions(at)ohsobeautifulpaper.com, and don’t forget to review our submission guidelines here for appropriate image sizes, etc.

Seasonal Stationery: New Year’s Cards, Part 2

Love them or hate them, making a New Year’s resolution is a time-honored tradition (making or ignoring, up to you). I’m resolving to say yes more and make excuses less (however, keep in mind the only resolution I’ve ever kept was to wear more lipstick). I also want to be better about staying in touch and sharing positive thoughts with friends, family, acquaintances and the daily people that make my life easier, better and more fun (I’m looking at you, super friendly USPS mail carrier with the cool sunglasses). For those that I don’t see on a daily basis, using our esteemed mail service will have to suffice. There were so many great options for New Year’s cards that we broke this into two posts – if you missed Part 1 of our roundup, check it out here! Now on to Part 2! – Shauna

From top left:

1. Not sure a pop-up card was ever more relevant for New Years than any other holiday (runner-up: 4th of July). Isn’t this so fun?! From The Museum of Modern Art.

2. Love the use of gold foil over muted tones in this abstract design from Antiquaira.

3. Cheers! ‘Champagne every day’ as my mother-in-law likes to say – a sentiment I hope is shared by Idlewild Co.

4. Hopefully, I’ll keep my resolutions longer than it takes to receive this People I’ve Loved card.

5. How’d she know?! That terribly witty Emily McDowell always knows just the right thing to say.

6. I’m 100% going to be the one snoring at 10:30. Are you telling me that people actually stay awake until midnight? From Farewell Paperie.

7. Simple streamers, gold foil, and casual type from The Good Twin.

8. You heard it here first. Make this new year count! Via A. Favorite

9. Tall and classy, just like the ladies behind perennial favorite Sugar Paper.

This is our last greeting card round up of 2016 – but we’ll be back the first week in January with a much-needed round up of thank you cards!

Happy Weekend!

Well, I meant to write my usual weekly round up last Friday, but we decided to take advantage of the Veterans Day weekend and escape DC for a few days at my dad’s house in New Jersey (boy, did we need it!). But honestly, despite my intentions I’m not sure I actually could have written my usual post last week. I try to keep a positive tone here, and I think I needed more time to wrap my head around everything that has happened in our country in the last couple of weeks. I rarely discuss political issues here, but I couldn’t move forward without acknowledging that this has been a very difficult time for many of us, myself included. I posted this on Instagram the day after the election, when I felt the need to be quiet, to listen and process. Two weeks later, I’m still feeling pretty unsettled, and I want to send a giant virtual hug to everyone out there who might be feeling the same way. But life moves forward and this too shall pass, and in the meantime I’ll do my best to bring a smile to your face by sharing beautiful stationery that helps celebrate life’s special occasions and encourages us to connect with each other in a meaningful way.

Stationery A-Z: Back to School Supplies!

Happy Monday everyone! DC public schools start back up this week, so I thought I’d start the week off with a round up of some of my favorite back to school supplies! We’re talking notepads, notebooks, pens and pencils, rulers – even an awesome pencil cup that I want on MY desk. My own daughter is starting her second year of preschool (DC starts at age 3), but sadly there aren’t a lot of fun school supplies involved at the preK stage. So this round up is geared more towards middle school through college and grad school – and plenty of it doubles as office stationery for those of you who are (thankfully) all done with school. I hope you find it useful!

Stationery A-Z: Back to School Supplies / Oh So Beautiful Paper

1. There are so many great notepad options, it’s really impossible to go wrong! This one is from The Good Twin – I love the color palette!

2. Compliment pencils in all the best colors from Ban.do

3. If you need to take notes (or sketch!) during class, you might as well do it in a pretty notebook! I like this pink, kraft, and gold notebook from Katie Leamon

4. These gold foil notebooks from Smitten on Paper are super cute, and small enough to carry around easily!

5. IRIDESCENT LEATHER PENCIL CASE. ‘Nuff said, right? By Tracey Tanner Studio!

6. Pens! I love the colors of these pens from Ban.do and these tropical leaf pens from Idlewild Co.

7. Colorful highlighters (and markers!) from Poppin

8. Pep talk pencils from Richie Designs

9. Rulers! I love the colorful rulers from Poppin and these brass rulers

10. Sugar Paper has an amazing assortment of notebooks – I’m loving this chambray fabric cover notebook, and you can even add a gold foil monogram!

11. Use this gold foil pocket notebook from Antiquaria to keep track of goals and ideas for the school year

12. Endless notepad options from Rifle Paper Co.

13. So many beautiful hand painted spiral bound notebooks from Moglea – perfect for making lists and taking notes

14. Perhaps the cutest eraser ever, by Sugar Paper for Target!

15. These brass number clips work great as bookmarks for textbooks – or even for marking important pages in notebooks and folders

16. This cute zippered pouch from Maika is perfect for carrying pens, pencils, binder clips, and erasers!

17. Loving the mint interior of this hexagon pencil cup from CB2

18. Cute sticky note blocks from Idlewild Co. – Moglea also has some really pretty options
