Illustrated Fox and Flower Birthday Party Invitations

I just adore an illustrated motif in a birthday party invitation, and these woodland-inspired illustrated fox and flower birthday party invitations from Lana of Lana’s Shop are no exception! Lana illustrated an adorable fox, featuring an equally adorable berry colored bow, and plenty of botanical elements for these delicate birthday party invitations. These envelope liners are seriously on point, and many of the illustrated elements made their way into the décor for the actual party!

From Lana: When Yesy of Love in Vintage asked me to design the paper goods for her daughter’s fourth birthday bash, I jumped at the opportunity. The plan for the party was both playful and refined, and I immediately fell in love with Yesy’s vision for the invitation, which would feature a crest, a girly fox wearing a dress, and lots of floral elements with a blush-and-burgundy color palette.

The custom crest for the invitations featured a sweet fox character that was ultimately included on the envelope liners, the dessert table backdrop, and even as a figurine on one of the four cakes in the dessert spread.

Yesy and I clearly share an avid appreciation for all things floral and botanical, and I love the way she chose to carry my illustrated flowers and greenery through into the décor. The lush garlands and bouquets definitely added a more grown-up element to the party’s woodland theme.

The rich burgundy accents were a lovely choice for the overall color palette! We chose to use the bold hue for the envelopes, which were then hand-addressed by the incredibly talented Nat of Papel & Co. It was so much fun to work on such a charming, whimsical project – every detail of the party came together beautifully!

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Creative Wedding Guestbooks

A wedding is a once in a lifetime event, and one of the few times that you’ll have all of your loved ones and favorite people gathered together in the same place. A guestbook is the perfect way to remember all the people that came together to celebrate your big day – and they’re a great memento to look back on long after the wedding. Here are a few fun and creative wedding guestbooks to put a twist on the traditional guestbook. – Annie

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for us this week! Since we’re focused on birthday party prep this week, we’ll hold off on sharing a cocktail recipe until Monday – so check back next week for that! Have a fantastic weekend, and we’ll see you back here next week! xoxo

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Are you ready for the long Labor Day weekend? I know I am! Also, on Monday, I turn 35. I don’t get as excited about my own birthdays anymore these days, since my two girls have birthdays only 7 and 11 days later, respectively, so I’m usually focused on celebrating them. But 35 kind of feels like a big one. I’m looking forward to a quiet celebration with my family and soaking up these last few summer days (although I seriously cannot wait for the cooler weather to arrive!). But in the meantime…

Mango Spice Shrub

August is almost over, but we wanted to squeeze one more shrub. After our previous very tasty and successful experiment combining tropical fruit with spices, we decided to try again, this time with mango. And this time, instead of Caribbean flavors, we decided to go a little farther abroad. We’re calling it the Mango Spice Shrub. –Andrew

Mango Spice Shrub Cocktail Recipe

  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Mango Spice Shrub Syrup
  • 1/2 oz St-Germain Elderflower Liqueuer
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 3/4 oz Coconut Water

To make the shrub syrup: add a tablespoon of cloves, 2-3 star anise pods, and a cinnamon stick, broken up, to a sauce pan over low heat. Gently toast the spices until they are fragrant. Then add a cup of rice wine vinegar and a cup of raw sugar, stirring frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Let the syrup cool, then add the fruit one one peeled, pitted mango. Mash the mango and then let it sit to infuse, covered, for 20 minutes or longer if possible. Strain through cheesecloth, squeezing to remove as much liquid as possible. Bottle and refrigerate.

To make the cocktail: combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled two-thirds with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe and enjoy!

Piney juniper up front, them lemony tartness, fruity sweetness, and some exotic spices on the finish. I wanted to combine some flavors that evoked various East Asian cuisines–mango, star anise, rice wine vinegar, coconut, and even the St-Germain, which is made from elderflower but can also evoke lychee fruit. Lots of hard-to-place spice and fruit flavors in this one.

We used Malfy Gin in this one, an Italian gin flavored in part with the zest of lemons from Italy’s Amalfi coast. It has lots of delicate lemon scent and flavors when sipped neat, but shows off juniper and other botanicals when mixed. I find that it adds an extra, subtle layer of citrus to this drink.
