Modern Fiesta Wedding Celebration Invitations

These gorgeous invitations totally had me at the sun-bleached desert color palette. Dreamy shades of peach, pink, blue, and green mixed with kraft paper? Yes, please. The modern fiesta wedding celebration invitations from Lauren at Charm & Fig feature white foil on kraft paper for the main invitation, geometric patterns, and several different paper finishes. So creative!

From Lauren: Lindy and Chris are an adorable LA couple with endless creativity: they write, produce, act, model… you name it. A few months after they became engaged, they had a very sweet and private wedding ceremony on the beautiful beaches of Malibu, California. With the blessing of the couple, the parents planned one fabulous Tex-Mex fiesta to honor the newlyweds in their home state.

Since this invitation was all about the celebration, we skipped a lot of the formalities and focused on an energetic invitation that would capture the couples’ creative personalities and playful style. Knowing a little bit about the couple, I wanted the suite to feel like it was telling a story with color, layers and texture. To illustrate this, we used a sun-bleached color palette, geometric patterns, and multiple paper finishes.

The invitation was white foil-printed on kraft paper – a simple color scheme that found a perfect balance with the complexity of the design. We were able to pick up some of the Navajo-inspired patterns on the invitation and use them throughout the suite to unify each piece. The map, directions and registry information were printed on a transparent white vellum to add another layer to the ethereal suite.

As a gift, the groom’s mother commissioned custom thank you notes for Chris and Lindy. We used the L+C cross monogram from the RSVP card and had it gold-foiled stamped on crisp white paper for an effortlessly luxe look.

A vintage-looking postcard RSVP was a must! It kept things casual and afforded us another opportunity to add gorgeous imagery – in this case, a dreamy desert scene with pops of blush, green and dusty blue hues. On the flip side, we added a place to write advice for the newlyweds, of which the answers will undoubtedly provide insight, joy and maybe a couple of laughs years to come.

Modern Neon Typography Wedding Invitations

I’ll always have a soft place in my heart for typography-driven wedding invitations, especially when there’s a pop of neon involved! Sabrina from Smudge Ink sent over these bold and modern neon typography invitations for a wedding in Boston Harbor. I’m absolutely loving the playful wording throughout the invitation suite, from the RSVP cards to the adorable lobster eating guides!

From Sabrina: Elizabeth and Tucker weren’t afraid to speak volumes when it came to their invitations. I knew it would be a fun suite to design as soon as I saw their wedding hashtag #atuckinggoodtime (a clever play on their names). And Alexis, their event designer and wondergal behind The Little Things, was already brimming with ideas for how to capture the couple’s vision for a lively celebration on the Boston Harbor Islands.

The natural elements provided by the rocky beaches and green landscape of Thompson Island would be a nice escape from the city. But for their stationery Elizabeth and Tucker wanted to offset the rustic feel of their venue with a more bold and modern aesthetic. We immediately decided to keep the look feeling clean cut and fresh with a typography-only design. To play up the couple’s big and bright personalities, we chose to letterpress print in neon coral and gray inks. A coordinating gray envelope liner with one of the couple’s favorite quotes brought everything together.

I love how we paired their affinity for clean typography with slightly cheeky copy that perfectly captured their fun-loving personalities. From the replies to the ferry schedule, coming up with just the right wording was probably my favorite part of their stationery. We carried this playfulness right up to the wedding day with letterpress printed programs and how-to-eat-lobster “menus.”

Green and White Nature-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I’m (obviously) a big fan of pink, but I feel like green is kind of having a moment right now – especially this gorgeous shade of deep emerald green! And emerald green looks just completely incredible when paired with crisp white and elegant gold! Inspired by Douglas Fir trees in the Pacific Northwest, these elegant and earthy green and white nature-inspired wedding invitations from Laura of Tuktu Paper Co. feature emerald green letterpress printed text with a blind (no ink) impression pattern of Douglas Fir trees and gold envelope liners. A gold wax seal serves as the perfect finishing touch!

From Laura: I love emulating the beauty of the Pacific Northwest into wedding invitations that I create for couples getting married on Vancouver Island, and this particular suite was no exception. This small, intimate wedding is being held on a beach in Tofino, British Columbia, and the couple’s only guidance was for the design to have two Douglas Fir trees – and that they both love gold and green.

Using extra thick Crane cotton paper to provide a deep blind impression for the Douglas Fir trees gives the invitations a beautiful, tangible quality. I wanted to match the green with a deep gold for an elegant and earthy design. We used hand-dyed gold paper for the envelope liners and a hint of green in the gold wax seal to bring everything together in a thoughtful way.

Tropical Banana Leaf Wedding Invitations

Um, YES. Now this is a tropical wedding invitation! Lauren from Charm & Fig combined a bold banana leaf pattern with classic navy text and gold foil details for some destination winter wedding invitations in Southwest Florida. The banana leaf pattern makes its first appearance as a border on the die cut save the dates, then again as an envelope liner in the wedding invitations! So fun!

From Lauren: This New York bride and her fiancé were charmed by the sleepy town of Boca Grande while they were on a weekend getaway in Southwest Florida. The relaxed southern ambiance and candy-colored cottages provided the perfect setting for the couple to escape the cold and host their families to celebrate their marriage.

For the wedding stationery, we first created a classic, flat printed save the date with a bold banana leaf print and die cut notched corners. We continued the square shape throughout the wedding suite, as well as the subtle nods of Old Florida.

While this wasn’t a stereotypical beach wedding, we mixed our favorite scripts, prints and colors to achieve a modern coastal look.

For the wedding invitation, we used navy letterpress, luxurious cotton paper, touches of gold foil and a banana leaf print to create a warm and elegant suite that let guests know this event would be anything but boring. Our favorite parts are the little surprises: the banana leaf liner, the navy letterpress printed pineapple on the response envelope, and the interlocked gold monogram on the wedding invitation monogram.

Tropical Leaf Wedding Invitations

Oh man. It’s probably a good thing that I’m already married, because with all the tropical vibes happening these days – from cocktails to stationery – I’d probably just run off and have a big tropical-meets-Tiki destination wedding celebration! Designer Lauren Chism feels the same way, which is what led her to design the newest addition to her Resort destination wedding collection – the Riviera – full of gorgeous tropical leaves!

From Lauren: I always have plans to launch new collections, but have found it hard to find time to really make a big launch. Realizing that wasn’t going to happen, I have decided to do a little refresh by adding a design or two to each of my collections. This is a current favorite that is being added to my ‘Resort’ collection.

I personally had a beach destination wedding and the lack of invitation options (back then) is what led me to design my own – which in turn led me to starting my business. So as you can imagine, having a collection catered to destination weddings was a big focus and really the inspiration behind my business. That was 6+ years ago and to this day, I still feel a special connection with my clients that are having similar weddings to my own.

Back to the design! Riviera is simply all about the palm leaves. Mexico, Hawaii, Florida, Bahamas – you can’t find a beach destination that isn’t synonymous with these tropical trees. There’s a subtle watercolor detail in the palm leaves, which is my favorite part of these digitally printed invitations. There’s been a big surge with letterpress popularity, but there are some things you just can’t achieve with letterpress, and a watercolor effect is one of them. For the rest of the design, I went with a modern and minimalist typography layout that I think compliments the palm leaf detail without overpowering.

While I am normally a neutrals gal, I was really drawn to color with this suite. This bright green and salmon color just work so well together – I can’t get enough. And it seems like the US post office and I were on the same page, because how perfect are these postage stamps?!
