Molly + Mark’s Floral-Inspired Southern Wedding Invitations

These wedding invitations from Holly HollonÂ mix whimsical calligraphy and floral illustrations â€“ so perfect for a late summer wedding in the South! I love the simplicity of the single color letterpress printing, which really allows the beautiful calligraphy to take center stage. Gorgeous!

From Holly: This invitation suite was created for a southern wedding. The bride loved calligraphy mixed with florals and she wanted the calligraphy to be inside a floral wreath. It was lots of fun to create the whimsical details and to add in flowing banners to tie everything together to highlight certain parts of the invitation, such as their names.

With the exception of the thank you cards, everything was letterpress printed in a bright blue to coordinate with the bride’s wedding colors.

{happy weekend!}

I’m beginning to suspect that I’m coming down with a case of the winter blues, which definitely isn’t helped by the lack of progress in our house hunt. So I’m actually really excited to break up our routine this weekend â€“ we’re heading to New York City for a few days! My husband and Sophie are coming along, so I’ll be attending the New York International Gift Fair and serving as a judge for the Louie Awards during the day and then meeting back up with them later in the afternoon. We’re taking the train (my favorite way to travel from DC to NYC), so right now I’m trying to figure out how on earth I’m going to fit all of our clothes and baby gear into a reasonable amount of luggage. Next week I’ll report back with some of my favorites from NYIGF! But in the meantime…

Emily + Sean’s Engraved Watercolor Burlap Save the Dates

I always expect something creative and one-of-a-kind from designer Kristy Rice and her team at Momental Designs, and these burlap and watercolor save the dates are no exception! Kristy drew her inspiration from nature, combining hand painted watercolor with white engraved text, burlap, and kraft paper â€“ with stunning results!

From Kristy:Â The concept for these save the dates was simple but the result; incredibly powerful. We started with the inspiration of rich natural textures, landscapes, and literature. Then we combined richly saturated hand painted watercolor textures with crisp and classic engraved lettering. Mingled with rustic touches of burlap and kraft cardstock, the look is a balance of contrasts and textures.

Kristy even sent over a few behind-the-scenes photos of the watercolor process!

Mary’s Sweet + Feminine Letterpress Baby Announcements

These adorable baby announcements combine calligraphy and letterpress printing in a beautiful pink and blue color palette â€“ so perfect for a tiny baby girl! Designer and calligrapher Holly HollonÂ even embellished her own calligraphy with tiny roses around the baby’s name for an added feminine touch. So sweet!

From Holly: The client wanted to combine letterpress printing with a photo. I designed the announcements to have a dainty border in which the photo would nest. We used MPix to print the photo. The color palette is a light aqua blue and light coral pink. I embellished the calligraphy of the baby’s full name with dainty roses that matched to the floral cross used on the envelope flap.
