Gold Foil Hand Lettered Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! Before I head off for a few days in the sun, I just had to share these gorgeous wedding invitations from Arley-Rose and Morgan of Ladyfingers Letterpress! Created for a wedding in the Dominican Republic, these invitations feature Arley-Rose’s signature hand lettering in stunning metallic gold foil, a beautiful rainbow roll sunset, architectural laser cut details, and a pop of bright neon edge painting. Love, love, love!

From Arley-Rose and Morgan: It didn’t take long for Michelle and Geoff to knock us off our feet and inspire us to make some of our most favorite invitations we’ve ever made! Influenced by their correspondence through adorable hand-written cards, genuinely sweet emails, and giddy phone calls filled with excitement and pure joy, we put our heads together to come up with some invitations fit for some of the sweetest clients we’ve ever had!

Since their wedding is going to be held in the Dominican Republic, they wanted an invitation suite that reflected the excitement and love they have for each other, while relaying the modern simplicity of their beautiful ocean-side venue.

Their hand-lettered invitations were hot foil stamped in bright gold foil onto thick, 220lb cotton Crane Lettra paper. On the backside of the invitation, a drawing of the sunset from the Casa Kimball infinity pool was rendered as a dual-split letterpress rainbow roll. Hot pink edge painting was applied to the edge of each piece, giving just the perfect amount of pop for each invitation!

The design for their enclosure mimics a pattern found in one of the architectural features at the venue. The pattern was then laser cut out of a Shimmer Ice paper and assembled with a pocket in the back to hold the RSVP card and envelope.

Their bright gold outer envelope is lined with a soft blue paper that was letterpress printed with a serene ocean design, and a letterpress return address. In the end, we were sad to see these invitations leave our studio, but happy to know that they were going to a good home. Sure enough, every time we come across the extras that we made here in the studio, we think of Michelle and Geoff and are reminded how fortunate we are to be able to make beautiful things for wonderful people!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone – and Happy Spring! Thankfully it actually feels like Spring today in DC, even if it doesn’t quite look like Spring just yet. Hopefully soon! But in the meantime…

DIY Tutorial: Dye Painted Napkins

Beautiful cloth napkins are definitely one of my weaknesses. They’re  functional but add style and charm to a table. I also think they make great hostess gifts, because it’s the kind of thing people often don’t buy for themselves. Whether you’re looking to add more cloth napkins to your collection or on the hunt for the perfect hostess gift, these DIY napkins are perfect…and quick. All it takes is a little dye and a load of laundry to create a set of completely custom, one-of-a-kind napkins perfect for a Spring table.  – Mandy of Fabric Paper Glue

DIY Dye Painted Napkins OSBP Materials

Materials
white cotton napkins
liquid dye (I used navy blue.)
pointed-tip paint brush

DIY Dye Painted Napkins OSBP Step 1

Step One: Dip the paint brush directly into the liquid dye, and paint small crosses onto the napkins. I painted four rows of crosses onto one edge of each napkin. Don’t overthink it and try to hard to make them perfect and consistent. The charm comes from the casual and free form strokes. Make sure you put a drop cloth or some other surface protector underneath your napkins as you paint them.

Step Two: After the dye has dried (approximately 30 minutes), rinse each of the napkins out in cold water. Be sure to rinse them out individually or you’ll rinse the dye from one right onto another.

Step Three: Launder the napkins in cold water. Dry them, and give them a press.

Pair them with a beautiful Spring table, or bundle them with a pretty little ribbon for a thoughtful hostess gift.

Erica + Stephen’s Rock & Roll Wedding Invitations

A wedding at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame sounds like a lot of fun! Nina from Tweedle Press created a three panel foldout letterpress invitation inspired by vintage concert posters – the perfect fit for this unique wedding!

From Nina: Erica and Stephen had obviously set out to create a very unique wedding atmosphere, between bringing in elements of cultural heritage, a deep red and Tiffany blue color scheme, and of course having their wedding at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Fitting then, for us to customize our Fame Dressed invitations for their wedding!

This three panel foldout invitation is perfect for couples who have a lot of information to convey; Erica and Stephen wanted to let their guests know about their ceremony, reception, welcome party, accommodations, transportation, and schedule of events.

Fame is definitely a design for the less-than-traditional couple, with an eye towards retro show posters. We used a deep impression on the front of the invitation as you can see in the closeup shots. The super thick cotton paper we use leaves enough room for a slight letterpress impression on the back, and we hand score and perforate the tear-out RSVP tickets to complete the package. Totally boss.

Vintage Floral Cotton Wedding Invitation Inspiration

This time of year I just want to gobble up anything floral. Give me spring!! Luckily, Jeannine from Blue Magpie sent over these vintage-inspired wedding invitations that combine floral fabric, torn linen, and kraft paper. Just what I needed!

From Jeannine: This invitation suite was really inspired by the beautiful vintage floral fabric. I wanted to design something that was feminine and romantic with a rustic charm but didn’t feel “old” in any way. After playing with lots of materials, I landed upon a combination of the floral fabric, torn linen, and torn kraft paper on which I emboss familiar wedding vows in a brilliant white. I love the white embossed loopy script because it reminds me of that classic combination of lacy doilies and floral cotton fabrics, but with a crisp, fresh feel.
