Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Despite some weird weather today, we’ve had the most beautiful spring weather here in DC – and I suddenly feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders! I’m so ready for spring you guys. Sunshine and flowers? Yes please! But in the meantime…

Alana’s Otomi Foil + Acrylic Bridal Shower Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! We’re starting the week with these beautiful bridal shower invitations from Alana and Krystal at Vellum & Vogue – for Alana’s own bridal shower! Alana and Krystal chose a festive otomi pattern in a gorgeously subtle neutral color palette. The invitations even feature pearlized white foil printed on acrylic!

From Alana + Krystal: At Vellum & Vogue, we love incorporating unique printing methods and materials into our work. Alana’s bridal shower had a Mexican theme, so we wanted to create an invitation suite that incorporated a traditional otomi pattern but also had a modern sensibility.

We decided to foil stamp a pearlized otomi pattern on clear acrylic to give the invitation a soft, modern feel. We then foil stamped the event details in white for contrast. Alana loves neutrals, so our accent materials used a taupe and silver color palette. The invitation was accompanied by a taupe linen backer and finished with a frayed fabric and suede cord wrap.

Each invitation was mailed in a white box filled with white and silver shredded crinkle paper. We sealed each box with a taupe wraparound address label that used the same otomi pattern.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! We’re looking forward to a low-key celebration of Sophie’s 2nd birthday this weekend. We decided not to do a party this year, since little brother or sister could arrive at any moment (which makes party planning a bit difficult!) – and even though Sophie is still pretty clueless when it comes to the concept of a birthday party, we plan to do something small at home. There will definitely be cake involved! But in the meantime…

Kelly’s Citrus-Inspired Bridal Shower Invitations

Today is such a special day: I get to share the invitations for my friend Kelly’s bridal shower! Kelly is both an old friend and one of my first contributors here at OSBP – but you might also know her from her own blog, Studio DIY. Kelly’s bridal shower invitations were the result of a collaboration between Isabel of 9th Letter Press and Kelly’s bridesmaid (and our mutual friend) Janice of Bellwether Events (who knows just a little thing or two about throwing a good party). The citrus-inspired invitation design is so much fun – and so Kelly!

From Isabel: Janice from Bellwether Events and I worked together to create a bridal shower invitation suite that’s fun, fresh and super bright. We went with citrus hues like key lime, grapefruit, and lemon. I LOVE all these pretty vibrant colors together! Kelly had no idea that 9th Letter Press was behind the invitations as Janice wanted to surprise her. I only wish I could have seen her face when Kelly opened the invitation!

Janice enclosed the invitations in a box with a citrus patterned liner, fun stamps and sugared tropical flavored candy. The suite included the invitation, an information sheet, RSVP card and envelope, bingo game set, menu, placemat, thank you cards, and all the fixings to make the box look fabulous.

From Kelly: I am such a huge fan of 9th Letter Press. I was floored when I got my shower invitation in the mail and realized Isabel was behind them! It was such a happy surprise! I told my bridesmaids that I love a good theme through and through, and Isabel’s design set the stage for quite the “Pucker Up” bash! I was getting calls and emails from family and friends gushing about every last detail… and I can’t blame them! It’s a total dream come true to have one of Isabel’s designs just for me!

Alana’s Modern Teal + Gold Bachelorette Party Itineraries

Remember these beautiful understated calligraphy save the dates for Alana of Vellum & Vogue? With the wedding weekend fast approaching, it was time for Alana’s bachelorette weekend! The general details had already been decided in advance, but Alana wanted to inject some excitement by sending an itinerary of the weekend schedule. These teal and gold leaf itineraries couldn’t be more perfect!

From Krystal and Alana of Vellum & Vogue: As designers, one of the most fun parts of planning your own wedding is the paper goods. That includes all of the peripheral events like the bridal shower and of course, the bachelorette party. The details around Alana’s bachelorette weekend were arranged long in advance, so to get guests excited we decided to send out an itinerary outlining the upcoming weekend events.

We wanted the itineraries to have a bright pop of color and immediately fell in love with these teal envelopes, incorporating the same shade throughout the suite. We also wanted to add a touch of gold. Since this project was a shorter run, we opted for a DIY foil technique, easily accomplished with a glue stick and sheets of gold leaf applied to the border of each itinerary card.

The cards were completed by a folded itinerary, mounted in a glassine envelope on the back of each card. We layered the itinerary over a black and white geometric pattern and teal card stock, also accented in gold foil.

We also created complimentary thank you notecards and coasters which became part of a favor box for each guest.
