Louise’s Turquoise Hand Lettered Baby Announcements

I’m constantly in awe of the amazing talent of Liz from Linda & Harriett. Her large scale quilt calendar is a completely stunning work of art (and currently on sale right now for an absolute steal!), and her stationery designs feature vibrant color palettes along with her signature hand lettering and illustrations. Liz welcomed her second child earlier this year, a beautiful baby girl named Louise, and I’m beyond thrilled to share Louise’s baby announcements today!

The announcements were letterpress printed in turquoise ink on 200 lb 100% cotton paper. Liz hand lettered Louise’s name across the top, and a photo was cut to size and attached to each announcement. The envelope return address was also hand lettered by Liz and letterpress printed in the same turquoise ink. I love that the announcement is worded from the perspective of Louise’s big brother, Griffin – such a wonderful way to involve an older sibling!

Liz no longer offers custom social stationery, but you can find Linda & Harriett collections on Minted and Paperless Post (also available in printed versions)! Liz also tells me that she’s currently working on a baby collection for Paperless Post that will be available this summer. Thanks Liz!

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Stitched + Embroidered

Why stop with a hand crafted wedding when you can have a hand stitched wedding too!?  The needle and thread is no longer relegated to repairing holes and finishing pillows: you or your stationer can break it out to add a little something extra to your day-of wedding paper goods.  Embroidered and stitched elements works beautifully on both fabric and paper, so go ahead and have your programs sewn up or your place cards cross stitched!  Have each guest make a quick stitch on a map to mark their hometown for a guest book or sew your embroidered table numbers together, post-event, to make an heirloom quilt… your very own little stitch in time. — Kelly

National Stationery Show 2012, Part 1

It’s finally here!  And oh boy, you guys, the National Stationery Show has barely even started and I can already tell it’s going to be a fantastic show – I have so much to share with you over the next week!  I’m still working my way through the booths and aisles, but I thought I’d start off with a few booths that caught my eye on the opening day.  First up, Alee + Press, with an awesome industrial-inspired booth design that was chock full of colorful greeting cards and gorgeous wedding invitations.

Alee and Press

Next up, a new stationery company that isn’t even a year old but is already creating some really fun designs – the Brooklyn-based Left Field Cards.  Designer Amelie loves baseball and decided to create an entire line around the sport.  She started with designs that are illustrated and hand carved into linoleum blocks, then created plates based on those designs and letterpress printed the entire collection.  Very cool!

Left Field Cards

I absolutely loved the sneak peek from Meg at Belle & Union, so it was no surprise that I also loved her debut at the Stationery Show.  Her booth was full of adorable letterpress printed cards, screen printed tea towels and gift wrap sheets, recipe cards, and lots of other fun little touches.  So cute!

I practically made a beeline for the Sugar Paper booth at the show, and I love everything in the new collection – from the greeting cards to the art prints.  There was so much color and joy reflected in the new cards and prints, yet everything felt classic and sophisticated.  Such a great combination!

I still in awe of the ombré blue walls that Rebekah from Wild Ink Press created for her booth this year, not to mention her beautiful stationery!  So many pretty patterns and colors throughout the entire collection…

Liz from Linda + Harriett completely knocked my socks off with her fabulous graphic booth design, gorgeous new 2013 letterpress calendar, and the seriously amazing (and GIANT) large-scale calendar with designs inspired by quilted paper.  I’ve always considered calendars to be a form of wall art, but Liz took it to a whole new level.  So amazing!

Finally (for now), the team from The Social Type made a fantastic Stationery Show debut with a modern collection full of sweet and colorful greeting cards and patterned gift wrap sheets.  So pretty!

I’ll be back soon with more from the show!

{happy weekend!}

Ah… the first week back after vacation is always a doozy, isn’t it?  But even after racing to catch up from a week away, I’m so very glad to be back home.  This weekend we’ll be watching the Stanley Cup playoffs and starting to make plans for the future nursery room.  Yay!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for me this week!  Cocktail Fridays will be back this afternoon – and we have a special cocktail just in time for Cinco de Mayo, so check back a bit later for the recipe!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday!  xoxo

2012 Calendar Round Up, Part 8

Just when I think we’re nearly done with 2012 calendar round ups, a few more amazing designs pop up! (This happens to me every year, so I really shouldn’t be surprised)  This round up features new editions of some of my favorite 2011 calendars along with a couple of first-time calendars from some of my favorite designers, so let’s take a look!

The calendars from Michelle Armas are one of my annual favorites and feature prints of her amazing paintings (which you can keep and frame later!)

Gorgeous color and floral illustrations from The House That Lars Built

The first ever (yay!) calendar from Mae Mae Paperie was inspired by swimming – so fun!

A simple + modern black and white calendar from Pawling

Lots and lots of color (both back and front!) in the 2012 desk calendar from Delphine

A collection of mint-colored things in this calendar from Kate’s Papergoods (she has another based on salmon color things)

A 5-color letterpress southwestern calendar from Goosedown Press – the registration in the pattern is amazing!

A geometric letterpress calendar from Fourth Year Studio – inspired by traditional quilt patterns

This lovely calendar from Flora Douville incorporates her watercolor illustrations (via Frolic!)

A beautiful watercolor wash and hand lettering in this 2012 calendar from Oh My Deer
