Mary + Kosta’s Luggage Tag Save the Dates

Luggage tag save the dates for a destination wedding in Greece? Simple idea, and 100% effective! Melissa from Atheneum Creative incorporated an elegant silver monogram on real luggage tags, then put the entire save the date together in pool blue mailer boxes with a liner showing a map of Greece!

From Melissa: Mary and Kosta are getting married in Greece and wanted to set the tone for their destination wedding with a luggage tag. We printed real luggage tags with a custom monogram and created an insert with the wedding details.

The luggage tag save the dates were mailed in a pool blue box with the inside cover showing a map of the wedding location. A simple design, a simple save the date, but it definitely left a great first impression with the guests who will be traveling to attend the wedding!

Summer Cocktail Recipes

We’re experiencing our first heat wave of the season here in DC, which has me thinking about refreshing summer cocktails. My favorite cocktail recipes tend to involve a lot of ice and can often be made in large batches for casual summer parties. We’re currently planning our summer cocktail menu (and happy to take requests in the comments!), but first I thought I’d pull a few of my favorite summer cocktail recipes from the archives!

Stephanie + Blake’s Painterly Gold Foil Wedding Invitations

Like just about everyone else in the world, I’m a big fan of gold foil – but I don’t think I’ve ever seen gold foil wedding invitations quite like this! Created by the ladies of Papellerie, the invitations feature shiny gold foil printed to mimic paintbrush strokes and a combination of gray offset printing, gold foil text, and even knockout text within the painterly texture. Seriously cool, and seriously pretty.

From Papellerie: We had so much fun designing for Stephanie and Blake! During the creative process they realized they loved paint strokes, metallic gold, pale pink cherry blossoms, and Moroccan design, so we took it from there!

The calligraphy was done by Alyssa, our in house calligrapher. The invitations incorporate gold foil and gray offset printing on the front, and gold foil with a custom pocket assembled on the back. The pocket was foil stamped with Stephanie and Blake’s names and holds the reply card and return envelope as well as the rehearsal dinner invitation in one neat little package.

We lined the envelope with a custom illustrated moroccan inspired pattern which relates back to the shape of the crest on the main invitation.

Ashley + Anthony’s Gray and White Foil Wedding Invitations

I love it when couples do something unexpected for their wedding invitations! Instead of going for a typical rustic design for their vineyard wedding, Ashley and Anthony chose a gray, white, and poppy red color palette and folk art-inspired floral details for their wedding invitations. Created by Emily and Anna of Paper Moss, the final design features gray paper paired with white foil printing and a pop of color in the envelope liner. So fun!

From Emily and Anna: Ashley and Anthony wanted something unconventional for their rustic wedding invitations. With a vineyard wedding and wedding colors of gray, poppy, and white, we jumped at the opportunity to use a gray stock as a base. Challenged with keeping the all gray invitation suite from feeling too dark, we chose a softer textured paper and added contrast with hot white foil printing.

Inspired by folk art floral patterns, we brought in a floral motif to almost all the pieces but most prominent in the bright and happy poppy-colored envelope liner, and matching custom postage. In order to stay true to the romantic and rustic feel they were going for, we made sure to work with elegant fonts, along with floral art that had a hand-drawn feel.

Ashley and Anthony loved the idea of a small booklet for their “Schedule of Events” held together by a mini belly band. To capitalize on this cute addition, we introduced a soft white stock with gray letterpress ink. This also complimented the address wrap labels around the envelopes!

Alana + Dan’s Blind Emboss Letterpress Save the Dates

These letterpress save the dates from Alana and Krystal of Vellum & Vogue are just so understated and lovely. Created for Alana’s own upcoming wedding, the square save the dates combine beautiful calligraphy with a classic black and white color palette and elegant vintage-inspired blind emboss pattern. So pretty!

From Alana + Krystal: These save the dates were a particular labor of love as they were created for one of our own, our co-founder Alana and her fiancé Dan. Alana has always loved the look of tin ceiling tiles. For their save the dates, we wanted to create something that mimicked that same look and texture but in a neutral palette.

To achieve this, we opted for a square save the date card. The front was letterpress printed with vintage-inspired text and calligraphy from the talented Anne Robin. The back features a blind embossed pattern inspired by tin ceiling tiles. We love the textural feel the blind emboss created. The cards were then double mounted to create a heavier weight. We finished the look with a kraft string-tie envelope, lined in black with the same blind embossed pattern.
