Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Today little Alice turns one month old! With Sophie, the newborn stage felt like an eternity – but we wondered if things would be different the second time around since we (now) know how fleeting these early days really are. I’m still not the biggest fan of the newborn stage (I’m much happier when babies start smiling – usually around 8 weeks), but it does feel like these first (hard) few weeks have just flown by! We’ll be celebrating Alice’s first month birthday with take out and doughnuts tonight – but in the meantime…

Chris + Sara’s Watercolor Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

Sigh. There’s just something so romantic about modern calligraphy. And combine calligraphy with watercolor washes inspired by the sea? Total swoon! Victoria of Moira Design Studio created these one of a kind watercolor and calligraphy wedding invitations for a casual wedding on the Maryland shore. Gorgeous!

From Victoria: Ocean sea breezes and the airy shades of the shore inspired this Maryland seaside invitation suite. We wanted to create a feel of open air and summer breezes. This casual wedding incorporated loose linen table runners, rustic wood tables, driftwood, and pale wood Louis style chairs. The suite features an open and modern calligraphy style in a medium grey tone, and is paired with watercolor washes in shades of blue.

Each envelope was delicately painted with a watercolor wash to match the suite, lined in watercolor paper and addressed in the same sloped and loose calligraphy style. The simple map of the Maryland coast depicts the strong blues of the ocean against the sand and points guests in the direction of the ceremony and hotel. The suite was a perfect fit for the casual afternoon summer affair.

Lauren + Bradley’s Rustic Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

I’m a fan of calligraphy invitations for weddings any time of year, but this invitation from Alex of Goodheart Design combines calligraphy with a rustic vibe perfect for fall! Alex kept the color palette simple, with letterpress printed charcoal gray text on white paper for the invitation and rsvp card, white foil on charcoal gray paper for the accommodations card, and kraft paper envelopes. Such an elegant combination!

From Alex: The inspiration behind this invite was simply color. Lauren wanted a two-toned invitation in ivory and charcoal with a rustic sophisticated vibe. I hand lettered the invitation, rsvp card, info card and the rsvp return address stamp using a calligraphy pen.

The invitation and rsvp are letterpress printed on #220 ivory paper with charcoal ink and the info card is white foil on #220 charcoal paper. The kraft rsvp envelope was stamped with charcoal ink as well.

Dominic + Devin’s Summer Camp Wedding Invitations

I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to summer – and while the cooler weather is starting to grow on me, I’m making a last grasp for summer sunshine with these camp-inspired wedding invitations from Blake and Irene at Sparkvites. The invitation suite features a canoe silhouette, a custom illustration of the wedding venue, and vintage-inspired design details. Fun!

From Blake and Irene: We designed this custom invitation for Dominic and Devin’s September wedding at Lake Morey in Vermont. Their camp wedding theme was reflected from start to finish as we worked with them on everything from save the dates to the guest itineraries.

The invitation and envelope were letterpress printed, while the additional cards were digitally printed and featured a custom illustration of Lake Morey Resort, along with a pretty kraft envelope and rounded corners for a more vintage look.

Introducing…

Hello again! Introducing our newest addition: Alice Evelyn! We couldn’t be more in love. I’ll do a longer post about her arrival when I have a bit more time to sit down and write – so maybe a year from now? Kidding! – but I thankfully avoided a repeat of my postpartum experience with Sophie, so I’ve been able to spend the last few weeks enjoying this sweet and tiny baby. Not that everything has been sugar and rainbows so far – we’re definitely still adjusting to being a family of four and having a newborn in the house again. But it’s all worth it. Two girls! I love it.

I’m so excited to dive back into my lovely world of beautiful paper and will be easing myself back into my routine over the next couple of weeks. I’ve got a ton of wedding invitations to share – not to mention 2015 calendars coming at you real soon! But first a huge thanks to the wonderful guest bloggers who helped out while I was away – from Hello!Lucky to Audrey, Erin, Lisa, and all the other amazingly talented mamas – and my wonderful team of contributors! Thank you all a million times over!

Since I haven’t been able to do my normal Friday posts for a few weeks, I thought I’d start off with a few favorite links from the last month:

I’ll be back with more soon!
