Soft Modern Watercolor Wedding Invitations

Back in April I featured these gorgeous and subtle gold foil splatter wedding invitationsÂ from Mariko at Miks Letterpress â€“ I love the way Mariko incorporated gold foil into a modern minimalist wedding invitation design! Today I’m thrilled to share another beautiful invitation suite from Mariko, this time incorporating a beautiful watercolor design in my favorite color: pink! These soft modern watercolor wedding invitations are the perfect combination of abstract painterly elements with modern type selections and design. Add in vintage postage stamps in neutral gray tones and calligraphy from Meant to Be Calligraphy, and this invitation suite is just about as pretty as it gets!

From Mariko:Â The inspiration for this wedding suite was drawn from the couple themselves. The bride wanted a soft watercolor look, while the groom wanted something more modern. I married the two concepts (pun intended) and came up with this wedding suite. It includes the soft elementÂ the bride wanted with the flowing watercolor and the crisp design element the groom liked with the white space around the text and modern type selections.

The watercolor was printed digitally on cotton paper, while the text was letterpress printed to give a 3D texture to the suite. Vintage postage stamps in a neutral gray tone were incorporated to complement the pink color scheme and not take attention away from the main feature: the pink watercolor. The envelope calligraphy from Michele ofÂ Meant to Be Calligraphy could have gone both ways, either a soft flourished style or a modern style and we went with a softer look.

Happy Weekend!

Yay Friday! Can you believe we only have one week left in June?? Now that school is over and summer has officially kicked in, I’m trying to make summer vacation plans. We hardly ever take vacations (other than going to see family), but I want to make sure that we actually enjoy our summer! I’d love to take the girls to a beach and Sophie has been asking to take a plane trip somewhere, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. What are your summer vacation plans?? Any suggestions for a family with two kids under 4? I’m all ears! But in the meantime…

Navy Blue Calligraphy Elopement Celebration Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! And happy first official day of Summer! We’re starting the week with these gorgeous navy blue calligraphy elopement celebration invitations from Victoria at Design House of Moira, which feature Victoria’s beautiful calligraphy on equally stunning raw edge cotton paper. And that tagline:Â we fell in love, so we ran away. Utterly romantic and soÂ perfect for an elopement celebration!

From Victoria:Â Working with Marina from Bustle Events, we designed this suite forÂ an elopement celebration, using the phrase â€œwe fell in love, so we ran awayâ€ as the theme. We really wanted to embrace the destination aspect of the celebration, tying in natural edges and shades of blue.

The invitation itself announces their elopement and invites guests to join them at the brideâ€™s parents home upon their return home. We really loved the idea of using paper with a raw edge and choose to go with handmade 100% cotton rag paper fromÂ Fabulous Fancy Pants. We paired the handmade paper with slooping brush lettering, and paired it with a formal serif font.

I also hand painted a large piece of artwork for the bride in monochromatic blues, and used that artwork to be printed as their envelope liners. Each invitation suite was wrapped in hand dyed, hand frayed silk ribbon and tucked into a crisp white cotton envelope.

The address calligraphy matched the same brush lettering throughout the suite, paired with vintage stamps in shades of blue. Each envelope was sealed with a white wax seal with calligraphy detail.

The cocktail menus were printed on the same 100% cotton rag paper and featured a â€œhis & hersâ€ signature cocktail. We also created a larger scale artwork piece of the quote we used in the suite featuring the couple’s wax seal.

Mon Voir Wedding Collection

I’m a huge fan of the calligraphy and illustration work from Jenna of Mon Voir. Jenna’s calligraphy style is so unique (and so beautiful) and her floral illustrations are just magic. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jenna on a couple occasions over the last two years: she designed my second daughter’s birth announcementsÂ in 2014 and we collaborated on a limited edition art printÂ last year!
