Blush and Gray Desert Wedding Invitations

Are you ready for some seriously dreamy wedding invitations? Alex of Goodheart Design combined a soft color palette, whimsical hand lettering, and sweet floral illustrations to create these blush and gray desert wedding invitations. You’ll definitely want to check out the ombré lettering on the save the date below. Absolute perfection!

Blush and Gray Desert Wedding Invitations by Goodheart Design

From Alex: Nicole and Justin got married in Ojai, California at the best time of year. The venue was open, airy and bright with a hint of desert vibes mixed in. We wanted to reflect that in the save the date and wedding invitation suite with soft colors, foliage, and classic calligraphy.

We started with the save the date and made it a little more fun and outgoing. The save the date itself was a unique 4 x 9 inch size with ombré letterpress printing done by Czar Press, moving from blush to light grey. That piece was also accompanied by a fun photo booth reel with pictures of the two of them. I love when photos are included in a save the date in a unique way!

As we moved to the invitation suite we wanted to keep the style, colors and look the same as the save the date but a little more classy and elegant. We started with creating a crest for the couple with their first name initials. That crest was used for the return address on the envelopes as well as other wedding ‘day of’ items.

The crest then inspired the blind letterpress printed vines on the main and rsvp pieces. By having them blind letterpress printed into the page, we were able to add a little bit of the desert Ojai vibe while still keeping it light and airy. The blind letterpress makes them more of a texture rather than a heavy focus. In order to make the details piece stand out a little bit, since it had lot of important information on it, it was printed on blush paper. One side had a fun map of Ojai on it and the other had a link to their wedding website. While the suite had different colored papers from the main piece to the details to the envelopes, it all flowed together in such a beautiful way.

Modern Botanical Chicago Wedding Invitations

I’m partial to oversize floral patterns in wedding invitations – they make such a fantastic statement in a wedding invitation! (If you haven’t already, you have to check out the botanical envelope liners on these invitations.) I love how designer Christina Egan Chang combined modern elements with classic florals in these modern botanical Chicago wedding invitations. The large scale (and negative space!) text over the oversized botanical print on the RSVP card? So good! What a fun modern twist on a botanical invitation suite!

Modern Botanical Chicago Wedding Invitations by Christina Egan Chang

From Christina: This was a fun save the date announcement and wedding invitation suite for an elegant September Chicago wedding! Lauren, the bride, is a stylish advertising agency account manager and Michael is a teacher and writer. The pair, both Chicago natives, met in Michigan while at college and became engaged after six years of dating. Lauren and Michael wanted to evoke the ambiance from their wedding venue within the invitation details, so their color palette of green, white, black, and silver was pertinent to the design.

Their wedding reception took place in an antique shop turned event space by night, so we selected a vintage botanical print featuring the same flowers in Lauren’s bouquet as a recurring element in the invitation suite. Their table centerpieces featured stacks of vintage books draped with green eucalyptus and various seasonal white blooms, a visual that was frequently referred to during the design process. We created a modern crest with their first initials to add some boldness to their effortless black and white invitations.

Lauren and Michael opted for traditional letterpress printing on their wedding invitation. To balance out the cost of letterpress printing, we transformed the vintage botanical print multiple times, rather than purchasing additional botanical prints. Most noticeably the leaves from the print were trimmed out and reconstructed into a leaf composition for the envelope liners and front of the RSVP card. Lauren wanted a strong use of green for the envelope liner to contrast with the crisp white envelope, so this made for an excellent solution.

A fold over map card was included for traveling guests along with wedding details and favorite places to visit in Chicago. Lauren and Michael initially explored script fonts, classic serif fonts, and calligraphy – but ultimately opted for a modern sans serif font on their invitation suite. This type selection perfectly rounded out their personal style: an appreciation for styles of the past, combined with a love for modern and mid-century design.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! It’s peony season here in DC! Our Spring arrived a bit early, so the peonies are about three weeks ahead of their normal schedule. I can’t believe this year’s show is only a few weeks away! But in the meantime…

Cabo San Lucas Lasercut Destination Wedding Invitations

We’re on a roll with tropical destination weddings this week! First these tropical Hawaiian wedding invitations, now a beach wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! These lasercut destination wedding invitations from Clara of Goldie Design Co. feature a beautiful watercolor crest with tropical greenery, a gorgeous envelope liner with a hand painted watercolor pattern, and a seriously stunning floral lasercut enclosure. A custom watercolor map and address calligraphy in navy ink complete the invitation suite!

From Clara: This wedding invitation suite was designed for a couple having a gorgeous, luxurious, traditional summer wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Their wedding will be filled with lush florals, greenery, lots of white and ivory, and hints of blush pink. We wanted the invitations to give off a grand and classic feel while having some fun accents since it will be set on a beach with gorgeous ocean views!

The custom watercolor crest was designed to coordinate with a crest that was used in their save the dates, but brings in tropical greenery accents with a hand-painted watercolor look. This watercolor crest would also tie in with the custom watercolor wedding map. The map is a wonderful pop of color amongst the otherwise quite neutral invitation pieces! The map shows the island of Cabo San Lucas with their wedding venues and hotel, as well their custom wedding crest. By tying that familiar piece of the crest throughout several pieces of the suite, it gives a uniform look that keeps it classic and traditional.

The envelope liner also coordinates with the belly band pattern from their save the dates, but has been transformed into a beautiful hand-painted watercolor version. The soft colors bring a gorgeous subtle texture to the entire suite! This same tiled pattern is used in other pieces throughout the invitation suite, such as the RSVP card and the wedding timeline. By bringing in little familiar pieces from the save the dates, it gives an overall sense of coordination and purpose in the design of the wedding invitations.

The invitation card itself has very simple design, again utilizing that custom wedding crest, gorgeous and clean modern calligraphy, and a traditional serif font. The simplicity pairs perfectly with the intricate and lavish laser cut enclosure. The laser cut enclosure has a gorgeous floral pattern that ties in with the white and ivory florals that will be used throughout the ceremony itself. The enclosure is cut out of a metallic ivory paper to give it an extra little shine. All of the pieces are placed within the enclosure, and the whole set is tied with a simple white satin ribbon. The outer envelope is a classic white envelope adorned with navy blue modern calligraphy to match the pieces of the invitation suite.

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

It feels like everyone is going to Hawaii right now! Just last week, a large chunk of my Instagram feed was filled with Hawaiian sunsets, acai smoothie bowls, and oversized sun hats. Until I can make it out to the beach, these vibrant tropical Hawaiian wedding invitations from Jill of Shindig Bespoke will have to feed my wanderlust! The texture created from layering moss, wood veneer, and gold foil printing is so fun! And the playful tropical motif is woven throughout the invitation suite all the way down to the festive mailer and curated vintage stamps. Aloha friends!

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

From Jill: This extra special invitation was designed for an intimate wedding on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. From tip to tail, the bride, whose is a florist, encouraged our team to push the creative “envelope” as much as possible and gave us almost no boundaries except for requesting that we make the suite colorful and unique.

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

We created a visual theme that spanned a broad arrangement of media, from paper and wood to moss. We also incorporated a variety of color and contrast; mixing patterns and pinks, texture and type. It was so fun to have extensive creative freedom with this design!

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

The main card’s back side is the focal point of the suite. A curly maple wood veneer card was laser cut with the couple’s names in a bold and modern type treatment and then inlaid with real moss. A hot pink screen printed heart finishes the pop art installation! On the front, a lightly textured magenta card was foil printed in gold with wedding information framed by vintage palm trees.

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

Two patterns were created to back the two foil printed reply cards. One, a subtle vintage toile, the other a bold tropical number inspired by Hawaiian printed shirts, the common thread being tropical imagery. With multiple events spanning a week, one reply card provided a chart where guests could select the activities in which they wanted to participate; from an afternoon sail to a hike along the Na Pali Coast. The main reply card, with playful language supporting the Hawaiian destination, provided guests a fun question and answer format.

The entire suite was tied with a light green paper yarn and popped in a mailing box cushioned with straw excelsior.

For the save the date, a custom wood mailer was backed with grass paper. Inside, a save the date card with poster style illustration was tied to a telegram style note from Jackie and Harry to their guests.

Vibrant Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

A vibrant collection of collateral pieces were created for the week and day of the wedding. From place cards and signage festooned with hand-painted lush tropical flora, to the dinner menu and itinerary which reused the toile pattern we created for the invitation suite! There truly was a plethora of stationery goodness!
