Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 everyone!  It was so nice to take a little break and unplug last week, but I’m slowly easing back into my routine.  I still haven’t really wrapped my head around 2011 yet, have you?  2010 was such a whirlwind and full of transition from start to finish.  I met some of my favorite bloggers (and make new friends) at Alt, moved to a new apartment that feels more like home, and lost my grandmother – all within the first month of 2010.  A winter storm left us with more than 2 feet of snow and kept us housebound for nearly a full week.  A bit later in the year I quit my day job (yay!), started a second blog, and then the months started to fly by even faster.  There are more big changes in store for 2011, but I’m optimistic about the challenges to come.

I’ll be back with some beautiful wedding invitations just a bit later.  But since I didn’t do my usual weekly round-up last week, I thought I’d do a quick round-up to start off the week:

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year!

Best of 2010 Wedding Invitations: Metallics + Foils

If this year was any indication, I’m expecting metallic inks and foil stamp elements to be a big trend in 2011 wedding invitations.  Kiera and JP’s gold and pink wedding invitations were one of my personal favorites from 2010, and Dan and Barbara’s modern black and white wedding invitations received one of the biggest reader responses of 2010!

Kiera and JP’s wedding invitations are both whimsical and elegant – and quite possibly one of the most sophisticated uses of pink that I’ve ever seen!  Check out the original post right here.

Dan and Barbara’s wedding invitations combined crisp and modern black and white design elements with romantic calligraphy from Mara at Neither Snow – so gorgeous.  Check out the original post right here!

Custom Holiday Cards from Sugar Paper

The ladies from Sugar Paper sent over a sneak peek at their studio during the holiday season.  As you might expect, they’ve been busy with custom holiday card orders over the last few weeks, trimming paper, stuffing envelopes, etc.   And although we didn’t order custom holiday cards this year, I’m definitely filing all of these away as inspiration for the future.  I’m loving all the pops of red (so perfect for the holidays!) and bordered details, plus the stitching on the last card is just waaay too perfect!

Monogram Note Cards

I often feel like the world’s worst giver of holiday gifts.  Gift selection is an incredibly personal process (at least for me), and with the pressure of the holiday season all of the great ideas I had during the rest of the year seem to go right out the window.  So around this time of year, and really any time of the year, monogram stationery and initial note cards become my go-to gift idea.  I’ve been keeping track of some favorites for my own holiday gift list, so I thought I’d share a few of my picks:

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  This has been an incredibly full week for me; if you follow me on twitter you may know that I spent most of the weekend and the earlier part of this week up in New Jersey and New York, working on a project with my Dad and seeing some of my fellow bloggers in town for Bridal Market.  On Tuesday, I attended a taping of the Martha Show – and if you’ll allow me to geek out for a quick second, the bloggers in attendance got to take a photo with Martha and Darcy Miller at the end of the show (that’s me in the red sweater on the right)!

So much fun!  Now that I’m back at home and the weekend is almost here, I’m looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the cooler weather here in DC.  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

…and just in case you missed it, a quick round-up of this week’s posts:

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all back here on Monday!
