Rachel + Nick’s Ombre Letterpress Wedding Invitations

How pretty are these wedding invitations from Lesley at Inclosed Studio? The invitation design was inspired by the bride and groom’s original wedding venue â€“ a peach orchard â€“ with a soft peach ombre on the main invitation and cute peach details throughout the suite. Beautiful!

From Lesley:Â Rachel and Nick got married on a rooftop in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Their original wedding location at a peach orchard had fallen through and they were hoping to still incorporate peaches into their new city vibe.

The invitation is letterpress printed on peach ombrÃ©Â paper with hints of peaches and gold throughout. For the finishing touch, their logo was foil stamped in gold on kraft paper tag … love!

Our Baby Shower!

Today we’re taking a quick trip back in time… to our baby shower! The ladies at On To Baby were kind enough to feature our shower yesterday, and I thought I’d share a few of my favorites here. My dear friends Janice and Maggie hosted the most beautiful shower for us, inspired by my love of all things constellation! Funny story: because I ended up having to be induced with Sophie 3 weeks early, our baby shower took place the DAY before we went into the hospital for the induction. Those last few days were a complete blur of anxiety and nerves, so it was really nice to have a day to spend with our friends and family before Sophie’s arrival!

Sugar Paper did an amazing job with the invitations, incorporating gold and white foil on die cut kraft paper, calligraphy from Lisa Holtzman, and a custom constellation envelope liner. Janice worked with Verde Studio to select astronomy-themed vintage postage as the finishing touch.

We’re not the most traditional of people, so we wanted an informal co-ed shower that gave us an opportunity to spend time with our friends and family. Janice asked her sister (a private chef) to put together a buffet of our favorite brunch food, and Andy came up with a trio of brunch cocktail recipes. There was also a coffee bar and dessert bar featuring cupcakes and macarons from our local favorite The Sweet Lobby.

This is Maggie and Trevor’s pup, Eleanor, when she was just a tiny wee thing! I think it should be mandatory to have at least one puppy at every party.

{happy weekend}

Happy Friday everyone. Truth is, I’m having a really hard time keeping a smile on my face these days. Despite what some on the television news might want you to think, this shutdown does affect real people. My husband and several of our close friends are among the 800,000 federal government employees furloughed until the government reopens. With the shutdown, half our income immediately disappeared. No expectation of backpay and no idea when he might be allowed to go back to work. The last shutdown lasted nearly three weeks. I’m trying to look on the bright side of things and be thankful that our situation isn’t worse. I’ve also never been more grateful for leaving federal employment three years ago, so that I can at least continue to earn while Congress gets its act together. With all of this uncertainty, this is a pretty scary time for our family. But it has also gotten us thinking about some larger changes we’d like to make in our life. Changes that will help us live our life on our own terms, rather than the whims of politicians. But in the meantime…

Jennifer + Eric’s Colorful Gold Foil Calligraphy Wedding Invitations

If you love bright, bold colors and shiny gold foil, you’ll love these wedding invitations! A collaboration between calligrapher Jenna BlazevichÂ and designer/printer Margot Madison, the invitation suite features bright jewel tones paired with both gold foil and shiny metallic gold ink, a colorful floral envelope liner, and lots of pretty day-of stationery details!

From Jenna:Â This entirely hand-lettered custom wedding invitation suite was a collaboration between myselfÂ and Margot MadisonÂ for the wedding of Cincinnati event planner Jennifer Trokhan. Jennifer wanted to work with a collection of vibrant gem tones and subtle hits of gold and an occasional aubergine purple.

The wedding took place at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, and the color story which began with this rich invitation continued through the day-of stationery and accommodating table elements. For the envelope liner, Margot and I chose a print from Katrina Rocella’s Spoonflower shop.

The invitation itself features gold foil, and the effect of the deeply imprinted gold on the thick peacock stock turned out really special. I completed the envelope addressing, table numbers, place cards, and out-of-town guest cards by hand in my Julienne calligraphy style with gold ink.

The printed day-of stationery elements includes hand-lettered menus, programs, and thank-you tags for guest favors and were screen printed by local Cincinnati printer, Jon Flannery at Cryptogram, all in a gold metallic ink.

Christine + Joseph’s Classic Pink and Gold Engraved Wedding Invitations

When designing the invitations for her cousin’s glamorous vintage-inspired wedding, Jackie of Sincerely, JackieÂ knew that she wanted to do something really special. The answer? An elegant invitation design with beautiful gold engraving and soft pink letterpress printing. Absolutely stunning!

From Jackie:Â I created these invitations for my cousin, Christine, who’s also one of my best friends. Christine’s wedding took place just a few weeks ago was in a gold coast mansion on the Great South Bay of Long Island, New York. With such a breathtaking location, I knew the invitations needed to truly set the stage for the guests.

The wedding was inspired by all things vintage, romantic, and glamorous, with lots of gold and pink, so I knew immediately that I wanted to create a gold and pink invitation done with specialty printing. While I love, love, love gold foil, for Christine’s invitations I really wanted to go with something a little more unique and true to the feel of the venue.

We decided to do a mix of printing methods: burnished gold engraving and soft pink letterpress accents.Â The gold engraving turned out to be the absolute perfect method for printing the invitations, and the contrast between the raised gold and the touches of soft pink letterpress is just divine.
