{happy weekend!}

Yet another week that flew by much too quickly (at least for me)!  This weekend my husband and I are heading to upstate New York to spend time with my husband’s family and visit our brand new niece!   I’m bracing myself for cold weather and hoping to catch a glimpse of the changing leaves that I’ve heard are so pretty in the region (although the leaves have been very pretty here in DC, too).  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

Welcome to the newest member of the Designer Rolodex!

That’s it for me this week!  Check back a bit later for this week’s cocktail recipe – it’s a seriously good one this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

Watercolor Letterpress Wedding Invitations from The Aerialist Press

I absolutely adore the combination of watercolor and letterpress – the texture of letterpress printing with the dreaminess of watercolor is so simple and lovely, particularly for wedding invitations.  Alexandra from The Aerialist Press just launched a brand new wedding invitation collection marrying hand painted watercolor with beautiful letterpress, and each design is so pretty!  The collection features five initial designs in a range of styles from modern to whimsical.  Here are a few of my favorites!

From Alexandra: Watercolor Letterpress is our latest couture collection and combines the technique of letterpress printing with the artistic quality of watercolor painting.  The collection features five initial designs: Fauna, Seersucker, Chevron, Swash, and Peony.  The entire collection allows for the option to add watercolor embellishment to any piece of the suite during post-production.  Clients can choose their own watercolor paint color(s) – as well as font and letterpress ink color.  Each piece will be one of a kind!

 So gorgeous, congratulations Alexandra!  Check out the full collection right here!

Calligraphy Inspiration: Emilie Friday

When first I began looking into the art of calligraphy, you can imagine all the sorts of goodies I found.  Calligrapher Emilie Friday definitely comes to mind when I think of not only the art, but also the practice of calligraphy.  Emilie offers gorgeous envelope addressing, invitation design, address stamps and even calligraphy starter kits for those of you looking to try your own hand.  Perusing her website, shop and Flickr photostream, you’ll find elegant examples of her work, glimpses at her practice pieces, and the details that make her calligraphy so special.  – Julie

Emilie’s work can be very whimsical for a perfect touch to brighten up everyday correspondence.  She also does amazing intricate work, with use of some of the loveliest calligraphy swashes I’ve seen.
