I can totally see these being used as decor for a wedding, shower, or birthday party – or even as a playful accent for a beautifully wrapped gift!  Here's a version with scallops:

Modern Geometric Pattern Wedding Invitation

I thought I’d take a quick break from NSS previews this morning to share a gorgeous wedding invitation from Dauphine Press!  Created for a July wedding, this invitation suite features bold pops of color and beautiful pattern details inspired by quilts made by the bride’s grandmother!

The design team at Dauphine Press set out to create a beautiful wedding invitation that balanced modern and feminine design elements, including a custom vine motif and crisp geometric pattern.  They also chose to orient the invitation card horizontally instead of vertically for a less traditional approach.

The overall suite includes a mix of traditional and contemporary elements. Dauphine Press included inner and outer envelopes and center-aligned typography to represent the traditional church ceremony, while also adding pops of color and pattern details.  The unexpected little details and the color palette made the design a perfect reflection of the couples’ warm and sunny personalities.

The color palette for the invitation suite incorporated the groom’s favorite color, blue, with contrasting shades of yellow.  The combination of light turquoise and bright yellow reminded the bride of summers spent at the beach or by the pool — perfect for a July wedding!

The geometric circular pattern used on both the back of the Save the Dates as well as the invitation envelope liners was inspired by one of the bride’s grandmother’s patterned quilts!

From the bride, Sarah: One of my Grandmother’s wedding quilts influenced the design. Having so many of her quilts in my life, I felt an instant connection to the pattern.  I love how the clean geometric lines can also play into a stylized floral design, though while I love floral patterns, I wanted something that resonated with both James and me.

Cabin 7

Lots of exciting things happening today!  Jen from The Haystack Needle (you might remember her fabulous guest posts about her wedding from back in January) recently partnered with her friend Chris to open a shop called Cabin 7, which features the most gorgeous gilded wood objects, like these wood card holders and block letters:

The card holders are made from beautiful white birch and would be absolutely perfect as menu or table number holders – or even as place card holders!  And I'm loving the block letters – both as a possible present for new parents or just as a bit of added room decor.  Check out the full shop collection over at Cabin 7 – congrats Jen and Chris!

NSS Bound – Pie Bird Press

Less than a week before the Stationery Show!  I've been having so much fun following all the twitter updates as stationers prepare for this year's show.  Another studio heading back to this year's show is Pie Bird Press (Booth #2049 for those of you going to the show), which sent over a few photos of some new cards making their official debut next week:

Megan + Daniel’s Quirky Black and White Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  I thought I’d start the week off with a fun, quirky wedding invitation suite that Kathleen recently designed for her friend Daniel’s upcoming wedding.  Kathleen kept the overall invitation relatively simple, incorporating a sweet illustration from the bride as the main design element.  Check it out:

From Kathleen:  Daniel has been a longtime co-worker and friend of mine so I was not only thrilled that he found an amazing girl to marry but that he asked me to design their wedding invitations.

Megan drew up these quirky illustrations for me to use and from there I decided to keep it simple and let the illustrations do their thing.

I love utilizing only one or two colors when designing custom invitations — especially black (I
only used black on
my invitations as well).

Using only one or two colors presents a unique challenge and produces even more unique invitations
every single time.  Printing in a single color is also budget friendly.

We decided on an off-white touchy-feely matte textured stock to complement the hand-drawn silhouettes. The cream paper also takes some of the edge off a stark black and white invite.

I absolutely adore the sweet little ampersand throughout the invitation suite, and I love the way Megan’s illustration peeks out from the bottom of the RSVP card — too cute!  Thanks so much Kathleen!
