{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  My husband just reminded me that we’re heading into a long weekend (he keeps track of these things more closely than I do, apparently), so that’s nice!  I was already looking forward to a laid back weekend, but am grateful for the extra day to catch up on errands and hopefully relax.  But in the meantime…

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.  And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.  If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking.  Don’t settle.  As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.  And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.  So keep looking until you find it.  Don’t settle.”

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.  Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.  And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.”

Leslie + Ryan’s Modern Woodland Big Sur Wedding Invitations

Leslie and Ryan’s woodland-inspired wedding invitations come to us from designer Yvonne Pingue and photographer Scott MacDonald.  The modern invitation features a double-sided design inspired by the natural environment of wedding venue on the California coast and the couple’s love of music.  I love the way Yvonne incorporated pattern and bright color into the invitation to retain a modern design sensibility.

From Yvonne: For Ryan and Leslie’s wedding invitation, I wanted to illustrate their love for both Big Sur and music, while keeping it clean and modern.  Their wedding was taking place at the Henry Miller Memorial Library near the coast, so I knew I wanted to incorporate the ocean.  They are also die-hard music fans and travel all over the country for music festivals.  I researched music posters for inspiration and tried to integrate that style with the natural environment of Big Sur.

Thanks Scott and Yvonne!

Alexandra + Doug’s Green and Kraft Graphic Wedding Invitations

The texture of these wedding invitations is just so incredibly awesome.  Designed by Doug Hughmanick for his own wedding this summer and letterpress printed by Miguel from Heavy Metal Letterpress, the invitation features a brushstroke element at the top of each piece in the suite, knockout text, and kraft paper envelopes.  I love the bold color paired with classic wording and typeface selections.

Here’s a close up look at that awesome knockout text and texture…

Ashley + Nathan’s Whimsical and Rustic Burlap Wedding Invitations

Ashley and Nathan’s wedding invitations from Jill at Lemon Tree Paper Co. feature burlap and kraft paper – the perfect combination for a rustic fall wedding!   Ashley and Nathan’s wedding will take place in Tennessee later this month, so Jill also incorporated hand-sewn burlap pockets with a custom rubber stamp, adding the kraft paper address labels on the outer envelopes for a finishing touch.  So cute!

From Jill: These invitations were made to reflect a classic fall barn wedding.  Ashley wanted a rustic feel, but with personal touches and unique qualities.  I sewed each of these burlap pockets individually, and stamped them with a custom rubber stamp that I designed just for them.  Ashley and Nathan plan to use the stamp throughout their wedding decor.  We also used kraft paper wrap-around address labels to complement the rustic feel of the burlap.

Thanks Jill!

Alecia + Jon’s Black, White, and Neon Graphic Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone!  We’re starting the week with another fabulous set of wedding invitations from Kate Gabriel of Wit + Delight.  Alecia and Jon wanted modern and funky invitations for their upcoming Chicago loft wedding.  Kate designed these awesome graphic black and white wedding invitations, then incorporated a bright (almost neon!) chartreuse green envelope for a bold pop of color.  Awesome!

From Kate: Jon and Alecia are planning a color-filled event in a downtown Chicago loft.  They wanted the invites to be bold and funky with a lot of their personality coming through.  They wanted letterpress invitations without breaking the bank, so we chose to print with black ink and use a bright chartreuse for the envelopes.  The graphic nature of the design really reflects their style and attitude.  I love the way we incorporated fun language in the word bubbles.

The main invitation was scored in two places and could be folded into a triangle shape to sit on a desk or console as an event reminder!  So cool!

Thanks Kate!
