70th Wedding Anniversary Invitations

Do you remember the 70th wedding anniversary celebration that I linked to in one of my Friday posts a couple weeks ago?   Sarah from Parrott Design Studio helped her grandparents celebrate their 2nd platinum wedding anniversary, and the invitations she created for the party are just as beautiful as I expected.

I love that Sarah printed the floral images in a blind (no ink) deboss to give the feeling of lace – so timeless and romantic!  Beautiful work Sarah!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  This has been an incredibly full week for me; if you follow me on twitter you may know that I spent most of the weekend and the earlier part of this week up in New Jersey and New York, working on a project with my Dad and seeing some of my fellow bloggers in town for Bridal Market.  On Tuesday, I attended a taping of the Martha Show – and if you’ll allow me to geek out for a quick second, the bloggers in attendance got to take a photo with Martha and Darcy Miller at the end of the show (that’s me in the red sweater on the right)!

So much fun!  Now that I’m back at home and the weekend is almost here, I’m looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the cooler weather here in DC.  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

…and just in case you missed it, a quick round-up of this week’s posts:

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all back here on Monday!

Beach-Inspired Wedding Invitations

Today’s second set of real wedding invitations come to us from Jocelyn Dunn, a freelance graphic designer in Los Angeles with a company called Petit Bureau that specializes in custom wedding & event invitations.  Jocelyn sent over her own wedding invitations, inspired by the beach and sun of her wedding venue in Malibu, California.  The invitations feature some of Jocelyn’s own illustrations along modern font selections for a modern and unique beach-inspired design.

From Jocelyn: This invitation was for my own wedding, set at a beach club in Malibu.  The beach, sun, and sand are each a vital part of both of our lives, so we wanted to reflect those elements in the design without using cliché beach themed motifs.  I drew the illustrated elements to add a personal touch.

The invitation set included a two-sided invitation with a Z-fold, along with a double-sided RSVP and a thank you card.  The main invitation folded out like a small poster and was intended to be something guests would tack up somewhere like on a bulletin board.

Jocelyn mixed hand drawn elements (including the sun, flowers, fish, borders, and a map) with different font selections.

The invitations were printed on Neenah Classic Laid Brushed Khaki 80# cover weight paper in orange, blue, and brown inks, with French Paper Pop Tone envelopes in Hot Fudge.

Modern Foil Stamp Wedding Invitations

Dan and Barbara’s wedding invitations combine modern and romantic elements all together in one lovely design.  Dan, a graphic designer, incorporated black and white foil stamp text and wood veneer into the invitation design, along with gorgeous calligraphy details by Mara from Neither Snow.  Love it!

From Dan:  The invitations were designed around a simple philosophy: present the information in an elegant and understated way, and allow the elegance of the occasion to speak from the moment our guests opened the envelopes.

The invitations were triple bonded black paper, stamped with black and white foils.  The main invitation and save the dates were bonded with a wood backing – we choose Wenge for the save the dates and curly maple for the invitation.

Dan worked with AccuColor Plus in Chicago on the invitation printing.  I love the subtle effect of the black foiling on black paper on the invitation enclosures, and the contrast with the white foil stamp text through the rest of the invitation.

Gorgeous calligraphy on the outer envelopes from Neither Snow:

Mid Century Modern Wedding Invitations

So I don’t usually post this early, but these invitations by Erin at The Indigo Bunting are so amazing that I just couldn’t wait.  The entire design is totally bananas in the absolute best possible way – I mean, just look at that letterpress houndstooth pattern in the envelope liners!
