We’re moving full speed ahead with recaps from this year’s National Stationery Show with another set of talented exhibitors! First up for today, a bright and happy (neon!) booth packed with modern screen printed stationery from The Paper Cub Co.

The team at 9th Letter Press never misses a single detail, with a booth filled with beautiful letterpress stationery and homey hospitality-inspired details (all those pineapples!). I’m loving their new letterpress coupon cards (particularly the babysitting card) and gorgeous gold foil greeting cards!

National Stationery Show 2014, Part 3

The 2014 National Stationery Show may have officially wrapped up yesterday (sniff!! miss you all already!), but my coverage from this year’s show is just getting started! And you guys, there were SO MANY amazing booths this year, I’m almost afraid to think of how many photos I took over the last three and a half days. So let’s get right back to it, with one of this year’s most hotly anticipated booths: Emily McDowell! I’m such a big fan of Emily’s compelling hand lettered greeting cards, prints, tea towels, tote bags, and temporary tattoos – and this year Emily added gift tags, sticker labels, and notepads to the collection!

After exhibiting with Crow and Canary a few times, Ashkahn made his official debut in a solo booth this year! I love the mix of foil and neon, not to mention irreverence and sentimentality, in his letterpress greeting cards.

Pineapples were everywhere at this year’s show (seriously), but that was perhaps most true at the debut booth from Hartland Brooklyn. Isn’t that wallpaper (made using custom gift wrap!) incredible? And so many fun greeting cards with gold foil, tropical illustrations, and yes, plenty of pineapples.

Happy Weekend!

It’s time! The National Stationery Show is here! Tomorrow I’ll hop on a train up to New York, but for now I’m busy packing and making final preparations for my annual Paper Party next week! With all the hustle and bustle of the show itself, the Paper Party is a fun way for exhibitors, retailers, and other stationery folks to relax and socialize outside of the Javits Center. I’ve been honored to host this party for the past few years, and this year I’m so excited to be working with an amazing team of sponsors to bring this party to life! I can’t wait to share everything with all of you soon, but I wanted to give a special advance thanks to Mohawk, Minted, Etsy Wholesale, Smock, Mailchimp, Postable, Snow & Graham, Legion Paper, Hester & Cook Design Group, Gilah Press + Design, and Ladies of Letterpress for being such awesome partners! But in the meantime…

Check back soon for this week’s cocktail! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here next week! xoxo

Toddler Essentials: Toys!

These days, Sophie really wants to play with toys that she can interact with or manipulate in some way. It’s the era of blocks and water tables! The great news is that most these toys are actually a lot of fun for us parents as well, so today I thought I’d share a few of Sophie’s current favorites in case any of you are hunting for gift ideas for your favorite toddler!

OSBP-Baby-Essentials-Toddler-Toys

1. Little Sapling Wood Blocks; 2. Marble Run; 3. Moulin Roty Pull Along Truck; 4. Duplo Block Set; 5. Water Table; 6. Crayon Pencils

1. We’ve had this set of wood alphabet blocks since Sophie was born, and we’re so excited that she’s finally interested in them! We’re still working on teaching her the ABCs, but in the meantime she loves stacking the blocks almost as much as she enjoys knocking over towering stacks built by her parents.

2. Have you ever heard of marble run sets? This was one of my own absolute favorite childhood toys, and we actually have the exact same set that I used as a kid in the 1980s! I set up a course on a whim one rainy afternoon, and to my delight Sophie absolutely LOVES it! This toy requires close supervision, but it keeps her occupied for an eternity in toddler time. She loves picking her favorite marbles out of a bag, watching them all go noisily down the track, and even enjoys putting the marbles away! You can find original marble run sets on ebay or modern versions on Amazon and local toy stores.

3. We’ve been fortunate to inherit lots of hand-me-down toys from Sophie’s cousins, and one of her favorites is a little pull toy that can hold some of her dolls and plush friends. This pull along garden truck is similar and would also appeal to toddler sorting instincts.

4. Duplo blocks. ‘Nuff said.

5. Like most (all??) toddlers, Sophie is fascinated with running water – we have a hard time keeping her hands out of our cats’ water fountain! Now that the warm weather is here to stay, we’re looking forward to playing with a water table while enjoying our backyard patio.

6. Sophie recently graduated from her Magna Doodle to crayons and colored pencils! These crayon pencils from How We Montessori are perfect for tiny toddler artists.

Oakes’s Nature-Inspired Letterpress Baby Announcements

These beautiful baby announcements come to us from Bonnie and Currier of Tenn Hens Design – and were created for Bonnie’s new baby boy, Oakes! Inspired by Bonnie’s childhood family farm, the announcements feature nature-inspired motifs like deer, oak leaves, and herons, a hand painted patterned envelope liner, and of course an adorable baby photo!

Letterpress-Baby-Announcement-Ideas-Tenn-Hens-Designs-OSBP4

From Bonnie and Currier: We wanted to create a special birth announcement to welcome Bonnie’s baby boy, Preston Oakes Cross, into the world. Our concept took its inspiration from Bonnie’s family farm where she grew up, married, and where Oakes will be baptized this summer.

Letterpress-Baby-Announcement-Ideas-Tenn-Hens-Designs-OSBP3

The property is bounded by a beautiful river which brought to mind the natural world of trees, foliage, deer, canoes, and herons. Illustrations of these elements were incorporated throughout the announcement, and Currier hand painted a soft watercolor graphic pattern for the envelope liner.

Letterpress-Baby-Announcement-Ideas-Tenn-Hens-Designs-OSBP2Letterpress-Baby-Announcement-Ideas-Tenn-Hens-Designs-OSBP

Letterpress-Baby-Announcement-Ideas-Tenn-Hens-Designs-OSBP5

The announcement is letterpress printed and duplexed to another card printed with images of the natural world around Bonnie’s family farm. The photo was printed on metallic paper to add a crisp note to the overall color palette. And of course Oakes provided his adorable baby face. Don’t you just want to kiss those cheeks?!
