{happy weekend!}

My husband came home last night.  I snapped this photo while at the airport waiting for his plane to arrive.  I’m off to enjoy my first weekend with him in a long, long time.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone! xoxo

Elegant Pink Peony 50th Birthday Party Invitations

I absolutely love peonies; I get positively giddy when the gorgeous blooms start to make their appearance each spring.  Heidi from Zenadia Design created these invitations for a 50th birthday party, and the client also loves peonies and wanted to incorporate them into the invitation for her party!  Heidi combined pink peonies with beautiful calligraphy from The Left Handed Calligrapher and wax seals to create the perfect invitation for an elegant birthday party.

From Heidi: This invitation was designed for a 50th birthday party.  Kathy, the birthday girl, loves peonies and pink and wanted to incorporate them into her celebration.  She also loved the look of letterpress and wax seals.  We designed an invitation for her with two color letterpress, a custom wax seal, and beautiful calligraphy from The Left Handed Calligrapher.  Also in the suite were table numbers, favor boxes, escort cards, menus, and cupcake and candy bar signs.

Modern Science Graduation Party Invitation

Chris from Moxie Press & Co. in Baltimore sent over these fun graduation party invitations for a recent graduate from Towson University.  Elenyah just completed a Masters in Forensic Science, so Chris used scientific elements like atoms and a DNA helix along with a bright yellow and gray color palette to create these playful invitations.  So fun!

From Chris: It’s a graduation party!  Here is a lovely two color letterpress graduation party invitation printed on 100% cotton Crane’s Lettra 300 gsm paper in a bright and summery sunflower yellow and dusty gray.  The theme for this graduation invitation was science.  I was inspired by the fun shapes and patterns you find in science like the ellipses of an atom or spiral of a double helix.  This invitation was a surprise gift for the client and she could not have been happier with the results.

{happy weekend!}

As I mentioned earlier, we’re in the middle of an incredible heatwave here in DC (and apparently half of the country).  When my husband calls home each night from overseas, we definitely spend a good amount of time complaining about the heat in our respective locations – which makes most of our conversations pretty boring, actually.  He comes home soon; we’re in the final stretch and just counting down the last few days.  It feels so good to know that this will all be behind us very soon.  Next week is shaping up to be a flurry of activity as I try to wrap up a few loose ends, thankfully most of it indoors.  But in the meantime…

Vintage-Inspired Invitations for a Destination Wedding in Italy

These romantic, vintage-inspired destination wedding invitations from Melinda at Lion in the Sun appeal to me in every way possible.  Travel-inspired details and a heady sense of wanderlust?  Check!  Quote from one of my favorite authors?  Check!  Beautiful map envelope liner and muted antique color palette?  Check and check.  Plus, y’all already know I have fond memories of Italy, so these invitations definitely bring out my sentimental side as well…

From Melinda: We created this invitation suite for Carrie who had a vision of classic vintage images and weathered maps for their wedding in a remote small village in Italy; the invitation design is romantic and playful, complete with a quote from the most romantic traveler: Hemingway.  David is an avid traveler to remote places and wanted to share his favorite Italian village with his friends and family for his wedding.

The reply card design was inspired by an old fashioned luggage tag and gave the unique option of “maybe”…. Not something we had ever done before but we wanted to make sure everyone was welcome even if it was a last minute decision.  The liner was a replica of an old map of the region with the playful treasure map marking the spot….  The muted colors further inspired the vintage, weathered travel feel.
