You guys, the last couple of days have been pretty rough – in large part due to a middle-of-the-night emergency trip to the animal hospital for our cat, Leopold.  The poor guy gave us a good scare, but luckily my husband and I caught the problem early enough; he’s now recovering and we’re hoping to bring him back home tomorrow.  Needless to say, I’ve had some things on my mind this week.  Right now I’m just feeling thankful and looking forward to getting back to normal this weekend.  But in the meantime…

Cross Country Letterpress Adventures

For those of you who love the look and feel of letterpress as much as I do and have ever wanted to learn more about the printing process… well, this is just about the coolest project ever!

Kyle from Power and Light Press is starting a new project to take the art of letterpress on a cross-country adventure!  She’s building a mobile press shop in the back of an old delivery truck, complete with a small table top press and a larger proof press, and plans to visit schools, art spaces, craft shows, and any other place or venue with an interest in letterpress – all the while conducting printing workshops and demonstrations.

In order to make this project a reality, Kyle needs our help.  She’s set up a kickstarter page where you can learn more about the project and make a donation.  Check it out right there!

Wedding Invitations – Blackbird Letterpress

Today we’re back to wedding invitations, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be sharing some of the gorgeous work of Kathryn from Blackbird Letterpress!  You might already be familiar with Kathryn’s invitations for her own wedding, as well as this stunning wedding invitation that she created in a collaboration with Betsy Dunlap, and the rest of her wedding invitation portfolio is just as gorgeous.

Blackbird Letterpress specializes in custom wedding invitations, using many letterpress printing methods from movable hand set type to photopolymer plates depending on the design and the client’s needs.  Blackbird Letterpress also strives to make as little impact on our fragile world by using soy solvents and papers that are recycled or made from renewable resources.

The Penpal Project

I am so excited by Marta’s latest idea – The Penpal Project!  In a collaboration with photographer Summer Harms, Marta is offering a series of photographic postcard prints inspired by baking and simple living – each photograph is absolutely stunning.   Such a great way to send a hand written note and let a friend know that you’re thinking of them!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  Are you all looking forward to the long holiday weekend?  I definitely am – it’ll be nice to have an extra day to catch up on things and it also happens to be my birthday this weekend!  I don’t usually make a big fuss over my birthday, but since I’ll be entering the last year of my twenties I’m paying a bit more attention this time around.  In other news, I haven’t been able to stop listening to the new Wolf Parade album – it’s so good!  The song below is my favorite (sorry, there’s no video, just the audio track) and I can’t wait until they come to the area on tour in a couple of months.  But in the meantime…
