{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm looking forward to some family time this weekend, and to hopefully wrapping up a couple of projects I feel like I've been working on forever.  I'm not looking forward to all the rain we're supposed to be getting here on the East Coast this weekend, but I suppose that's to be expected this month (and I'm definitely glad that it's raining instead of snowing!).  But in the meantime…

That does it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you here again on Monday!

Country Chic Home Inspiration

So as you may have noticed, I’m kind of obsessed with home decor inspiration these days.  Last week it was bathrooms, this week it’s primarily kitchens and dining spaces.  One of the things that I’m most excited about is the amount of natural light in our new apartment, so this week I’ve found myself drawn to these images of light-filled country home interiors:

I love the idea of the chalkboard paint dresser/buffet — and isn’t that huge window in the dining room gorgeous?  We’ll also have a tiny little window above our kitchen sink, so I can’t wait until spring arrives and things start to bloom again in DC.

Is there anything particular that has helped inspire you this week?

DIY Holiday Gift Wrap Inspiration

…newspaper!  I'm just about ready to set aside all of my usual shiny holiday gift wrap in favor of simple newspaper gift wrap and decorations:

Whether stitched, cut and folded into the shape of a blossom, or fashioned into bunting (each with some sort of red or striped accents), I'm just all about the newspaper gift wrap this season.  The only thing that might even come close to making me reconsider is vintage sheet music:

Sigh… so pretty, and so easy to DIY!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my U.S. readers — I hope you're all spending the holiday with friends, family and your loved ones!

For all my non-U.S. readers, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you!  I've got another set of favorite real wedding invitations coming right up…

A Weekend at the Farm

Do you remember, from a couple of weeks ago, when we went to a friend’s farm in western Virginia?  We couldn’t have asked for a more lovely afternoon and I went a little camera happy as we explored the property.  I finally got around to uploading a few of the photos and thought I’d share some here with you…

It was such a gorgeous day… we immediately fell in love with our surroundings and now have dreams of moving out to a farmhouse in the countryside, which is saying a lot for these two urbanites.  It didn’t hurt that it was an absolutely gorgeous day — just look at this sky!
