Jillian + Lee’s Travel-Inspired Airmail Wedding Invitations

After many years as a long distance couple, Jillian and Lee worked with designer Christine Loo of Heritage + Joy to create a travel-inspired wedding invitation suite with airmail details. Christine also incorporated Jillian and Lee’s color palette of cream, soft pink, and navy blue and elegant script fonts to complement their castle (!!) wedding venue. So lovely!

From Christine: Jillian and Lee were married this past May at the beautiful Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York. They decided to go with a travel theme to reflect the nature of their long distance relationship. She is originally from New York, he from the United Kingdom. Over the years, they had travelled many miles to see each other and spend time together, from London to New York to Paris. Lee even proposed on a special trip to St. Lucia!

Jillian and Lee chose a beautiful color palette for their castle wedding — soft pinks and creams for their flowers, and long navy dresses for the bridesmaids. We worked together to design a wedding invitation suite that was modern, soft, with just a hint of vintage flair to reflect handwritten letters.

I created different variations of passport stamps that we incorporated into the suite that reflected some of the different locations they had travelled to. The suite was printed on soft white paper and inserted into navy inner envelopes before going into outer envelopes, giving them just the right elegant touch.

Zach + Alexandra’s Elegant Screen Printed Wedding Invitations

You may remember Zach and Alexandra’s engagement party invitations from earlier this year – and today Rux from Lush Prints is back to share their wedding invitations! Rux worked with the talented folks at Mama’s Sauce to produce an elegant screen printed invitation suite with whimsical die cut details and bright pops of yellow. Beautiful!

From Rux: Shortly after we completed Zachary & Alexandra’s engagement dinner invitations, we found ourselves designing concepts for their wedding invitations. Our goal was to make their wedding invitation memorable and elegant. Listening to how these two souls crossed paths allowed us to unlock tiny details needed to start the creative process.

One of Zach and Alexandra’s courtship habits really stood out to us: they frequented Disneyland for many date nights. We strategically placed a hidden Mickey on damask pattern (can you find it?). A few weeks before the wedding, Zach & Alexandra posted a Facebook message with a contest asking their guests to find Mickey. The winner was announced at the reception and presented with a honeycomb jar filled with sweet golden honey.

Other little details included the couple’s bee monogram. We incorporated throughout the wedding stationery and also created a custom cake topper that completed the beautiful honeycomb theme cake.

{happy weekend!}

Happy August everyone! July flew by especially fast thanks to our trip to California and I’m having a hard time accepting that we’re more than halfway through summer! Luckily, August is my favorite month in DC – the college students are all back home and Congress is on recess, making the next few weeks the perfect time to go to museums, the zoo, or snag a table at a popular restaurant. I’m looking forward to making the most of these last few weeks of summer. But in the meantime…

Neon “Glow” Theme Bat Mitzvah Invitations

These neon Bat Mitzvah invitations from designer Alexandra Bisono are just so much fun… I couldn’t resist them! The invitations reflect the “glow” theme for the reception following the ceremony, with a layer of glow sticks at the bottom of each hand-delivered box – and of course lots of bright neon. The rsvp card is my favorite part of the invitation suite; I love that Alexandra included a space for a hand written note below each response type. Such a nice detail in an age when teenagers are glued to their cell phones!

From Alexandra: This client wanted a very memorable invitation for her “glow” theme Bat Mitzvah. The idea was for each guest to receive a hand delivered box that, once opened, would glow from the inside. This was achieved with a few dozen glow sticks attached to the bottom of the box. Inside the box guests also found their RSVP cards to fill out with custom neon pens.
