DIY Rubber Stamp Patterned Envelopes

Earlier this week, I shared a couple of ways to personalize hand delivered envelopes with paint. Today I’m back with another favorite idea – this time with rubber stamps! Rubber stamps are one of my most tried and true DIY tools. I’ve used them on everything from handmade holiday cards to DIY envelope liners (like the liner in our New Year’s Eve cocktail party invitations). They’re also a super quick and easy way to create a quick and colorful pattern on the outside of your envelopes!

This time around, I used a fun triangle stamp from Hunter & Co. along with my secret weapon for perfect little polka dots – a pencil eraser! But you could easily use whatever stamp you have on hand, make your own stamps using this stamp kit, or improvise with homemade potato stamps.

I used a simple color palette: gold paired with either mint green or bright coral on light gray linen Mohawk envelopes. Just make sure you thoroughly clean your stamp between colors (or have one pencil eraser for each color you plan to use).

I found it easiest to apply one color first, then fill in my pattern with the second color – rather than alternating between the two colors while creating the pattern.

So easy – and so much fun to create!

Sarah + Blake’s Dip Dye Destination Wedding Invitations

Becca from Suite Paperie sent over these beautiful dip dye invitations for a destination wedding, and in fact they’re quite a global affair! Bride and groom Sarah and Blake currently live in Uganda but are planning a New Year’s Eve wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! Becca incorporated a beautiful blue dip dye to echo the beaches of the wedding venue, metallic details, and hand lettering from the bride!

From Becca: This is one of our all-time favorite suites from any wedding season…ever! We channeled the beaches of Cabo San Lucas (where this couple will be getting married) to create the ultimate destination suite. Square invitations that incorporate hand-drawn elements were carefully dip-dyed by hand over the course of 4 days to create the perfect ombre look.

Custom mini maps of the Cabo San Lucas area were created, including points of interest for guests as well as a schedule featuring the events of the wedding weekend. Manilla tag RSVP cards were paired with kraft envelopes to keep the suite a bit earthy, while the gold doily liners and metallic twine that tied everything together gave it the perfect pop of glam for a New Year’s Eve wedding.

This project comes with a pretty amazing back story. Sarah, the bride, found us online from a previous feature on OSBP. She is currently living in Uganda with her fiancé, Blake. The pair met while they were working on a mission together, and decided to stay in Africa and continue to work and better the community they live in. Not only are these two amazing people, but Sarah is an incredible artist!

In between power outages, she managed to draw and scan all of the script elements that appear in this suite. She sent them via email and we turned her handwriting into vector art. I’ve never spoken to Sarah or Blake on the phone, we’ve never skyped, and I only know what the two look like from their engagement photos on their website (they’re quite the adorable couple!) It’s amazing what a powerful tool the Internet can be. We hope creative collaborations across the globe become the norm: you never know what kind of talent you’ll stumble upon.

Kelly + John’s Pink, Mint, and Gold Wedding Invitations

Pink, mint, and gold – can you imagine a sweeter color palette? Nichole from Coral Pheasant incorporated all three colors through both the save the dates and wedding invitations. Nichole started with a fold-out save the date (along with some confetti!), followed by beautiful letterpress printed invitations! The final finishing touches? Calligraphy by Molly Jacques and the perfect pink and mint vintage stamps!

From Nichole: Kelly and John’s vision for their wedding was for it to be fun and full of surprises with simple pops of color. I love bringing an element of discovery to custom stationery and was excited to get started on this project!

With their delicious color palette of mint, pink, and gold, we started with an accordion style save the date. The card featured the details on the front and a chevron-inspired pattern on the back. On the last panel, a mini glassine envelope was attached that contained tissue paper confetti and a small card with their wedding website. Who doesn’t get excited by confetti?!

The design carried over to their letterpress printed invitation suite where celebratory wording married playful typography, and the pattern from the save the date was used on the envelope liners. The finishing touch: lovely calligraphy by Molly Jacques.

Nina’s Colorful Hot Pink + Turquoise Birth Announcements

As a busy working parent, I can totally relate to being behind the curve on sending out important announcements: we still haven’t sent out moving announcements after nearly 7 months in our “new” house! It may have taken these parents a while to send out the announcements for their second daughter, Nina, but they made up for the delay with these beautiful announcements from the team at Noteworthy Paper & Press. I’m loving all the bright pops of color, from the turquoise flourishes to the hot pink envelope liners!

From Taylor at Noteworthy Paper & Press: We printed these belated birth announcements earlier in the summer for Pam and Tony, who welcomed a second baby girl into their busy lives last October. Both mom and dad work full time, so the announcement took a back seat as they settled into being a family of four. The couple’s only requirement was that the card be bright and fun and they loved the idea of using the current “chalkboard art” trend as inspiration.

Ann-Marie’s Modern Hand Lettered Bridal Shower Invitations

These creative invitations from Jaymee at JayAdores Design Co. for her friend’s upcoming bridal shower mix whimsical hand lettering with crisp modern design – and I couldn’t love them more! Working with a “gold and glitz” theme, Jaymee incorporated gold envelopes and a whole lot of sequins for extra sparkle. The perfect invitations for such a happy celebration!

From Jaymee: My good friend Ann-Marie is getting married in a few weeks, so my fellow bridesmaids and I threw her a shower to celebrate her upcoming nuptials! Once we decided on a gold and glitz theme for the shower, I got to work on creating invitations and paper goods to reflect that aesthetic.

I hand lettered “Ann-Marie” and “XOXO” using gouache to use on the invitations, the envelope liners, and the coasters. I had so much fun putting all of it together and added in sequins to each envelope for an extra [sparkly] something.
