Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! The last couple of weeks have been busy busy busy preparing for my annual Paper Party during the National Stationery Show in May – I’ve been sharing some sneak peeks and our amazing party sponsors on Instagram and Facebook and can’t wait to share more as we get closer! This weekend I’m hoping to take at least one day off and enjoy all these beautiful spring flowers – it’s lilac season now! But in the meantime…

Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! We arrived back in DC on Monday (after spending the Easter weekend with Sophie’s grandparents and cousins) to find the cherry blossoms and magnolias in bloom and bright yellow daffodils all over the city. Yay! Spring is my favorite season here in DC and I wish I could hang onto it forever. For now, I’m cherishing the pale pink blossoms while anxiously awaiting the lilacs and peonies. But in the meantime…

Lola + Ryan’s Hand Painted Tropical Wedding Invitations

I’ve been loving tropical details of every variety for nearly a year now, so of course I’m loving these lush botanical wedding invitations from Kacey at Hoopla Love. The beautiful greenery and watercolor elements are so perfect for a tropical (or tropical-inspired) wedding! And the combination of soft pink and tropical green may just be my new favorite color palette.

From Kacey: This design was inspired by a lush garden wedding. Brides often ask me to design invitations that match their wedding flowers. For this suite, we focused on the detail within the greenery instead. The greens, subtle teals, and hints of blush infused within the gorgeous leaves creates a fresh, colorful but sophisticated look.

I love the versatility of these invitations. The botanical design and bright, rich hues work for a wedding in a tropical setting, or any garden, spring, or outdoor summer occasion.

The artwork was hand painted with watercolors. The pink, cream and orange mini pom-pom twine that binds the suite together is one of my favorite details. I found it at a vintage trim shop in New York and have been waiting for the perfect invitations to pair it with!

Shauna + Darrell’s Rustic Tea Towel Wedding Invitations

You might remember Shauna and Darrell’s amazing rustic wood etched save the dates for their summer barn wedding – and today Shauna is back to share her invitations! Based on her save the date, I wasn’t surprised to see that Shauna took a non-traditional approach to her wedding invitations, elevating an inexpensive Ikea kitchen towel into a wonderful wedding keepsake!

From Shauna: I didn’t want my invitations to be thrown in the garbage – and I wanted something people could use afterwards, like a keepsake.  So I bought one hundred Ikea tea towels and had my design printed on them using a flat-bed printer. I hired a talented illustrator, Kyle Metalf who helped me carry out my vision. The illustration acts like a map and shows a school bus (which we rented) taking our guests from Calgary to the small town of Okotoks.  It features all the buildings and landmarks on the farm where we go married. I am really happy with how it turned out!
