Lindsay + Ryan’s Modern Boho Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! I’m so excited to start the week off with this bright and colorful wedding invitation suite from Melissa at Atheneum Creative! In addition to all the wonderful pops of color, I’m loving all the fun details in this suite – from hand lettered hang tags to custom illustrations!

From Melissa: I loved this wedding! The color, the illustration, the type, everything! Lindsay and Ryan had a boho style wedding and the sky was the limit on the amount of fun and color for the whole day!

We knew were were going to incorporate a lot of hand drawn elements, a lot of illustration and tons of color – so for the save the date we started with an illustration of the couple that really represented their style and personality.

We had fun with the invitation wording and also brought in the love of the couple’s favorite movie — UP.

We incorporated a block with Lindsay and Ryan’s hand lettered names on the envelopes and hang tags. A pair of birds (which came from matching tattoos on the bride and groom) also represented the couple through all the wedding stationery. We took tons of elements from the save the date and invitation to create a lot of the day of materials like napkins and stir sticks.

Melissa was also kind enough to send over the ceremony programs that she created for Lindsay and Ryan’s wedding – so we’ll be seeing those in a separate post coming up soon!

Ben + Maureen’s Floral Illustrated Wedding Invitations

I’m a longtime fan of illustrator Caitlin Keegan – she was the first illustrator that we collaborated with to create recipe cards for our Friday Happy Hour cocktail series! Today Caitlin is back on OSBP to share a wedding invitation that she recently designed featuring dahlia illustrations, Caitlin’s signature hand lettering, and a cheerful yellow and blue color palette. So pretty!

From Caitlin: I designed this wedding invitation for my good friends who were married in September at an inn in Woodstock, CT that had a dahlia farm. The couple asked that this be incorporated into the design along with their wedding colors. I started with some loose drawings of dahlias in my sketchbook and actually ended up using them for the final design, along with some hand lettering which was also carried over onto their favors and program.

The invitations, RSVP cards, and envelopes were silkscreened by Out of Line Press in Brooklyn and the envelope liners were printed digitally. The bride also used some of the leftover patterned paper to make small notecards for each of the guests, which were distributed with the wedding favors. For the envelope liner, I created a custom dahlia pattern that includes the couple’s initials.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Camping in the Woods

Fall, to me, always brings thoughts of camping, roasting marshmallows, and rustic details. You might not think of planning your wedding around a theme that involves getting dirty and functioning with just the essentials. But that is what can make it so fun! Surprise your guests with simple pleasures that they enjoyed as kids or still do with their families. Take a cue from the treats, the crafting, and the quirky details from your own camping adventures. And if you just love the idea – but need a little inspiration – I rounded up some of my favorite stationery pieces to get you started! – Lauren

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Dark Botanicals

Just because fall and winter are approaching does not mean that our bright colors and obsessions with florals need to suffer. Choose saturated colors, bright tones, and gemstone hues, add a touch of moody black or blue, and you have yourself some gorgeous inspiration to transition into the cooler months. I really love the look of this wedding party. The mismatched floral prints, darker colors, and bohemian vibes… so let’s see how that would translate into day-of wedding stationery. – Lauren

Virginia + Peter’s Low Key Wedding Invitations

Designer Christine Wisnieski created this beautiful and low key wedding invitation suite with an unusual (but awesome) source of inspiration: the bride’s collection of vintage china! The invitation suite features a blush pink and kraft paper color palette with subtle vintage-inspired design details. So lovely!

From Christine: I created a simple and delicate wedding invitation suite in pale blush pink inspired by Virginia’s collection of vintage china and lace wedding gown. Family and friends from all over the country gathered on Cape Cod to enjoy a quaint celebration and beautifully prepared meal at the bride’s family home.

The blush pink and kraft paper includes a letterpress printed invitation, rsvp card, welcome dinner note, and envelope along with day-of stationery pieces like ceremony programs, menus, escort cards, table numbers and favor packaging. Ohio Cherry bitters were thoughtfully crafted by the bride and groom and packaged in amber bottles for guests to take home.
