{happy weekend!}

Happy Weekend everyone!  Even though I’m still dragging a bit today, I had the best time in New York yesterday – getting to catch up with some of my favorite blog buddies and meeting so many new people at a blogger’s get-together organized by the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia team!  And even though it’s been a wonderful week, I’m beyond excited for this weekend to get started – my husband and I are going to see Arcade Fire tonight!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all back here on Monday – when I’ll announce the winner of the Envelopments giveaway!

Letterpress Calling Cards

I’m taking a quick break from wedding invitations this morning (not to worry, I have some beautiful real invitations coming up a bit later) to share this beautiful letterpress print from Brandi at Sweet Harvey:

Brandi kindly sent me one of these prints, which I now have up in my new home office and love it!  Isn’t it perfect for artists and freelancers?  Or even in a child’s bedroom?  Such a sweet print.  Brandi also let me know about some new letterpress calling card designs that she’s offering in the Sweet Harvey shop:

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s so hot and humid at the moment here in DC that I can’t really think about anything other than giant iced teas and air conditioning.  I would wish for a hammock like the one below, but it’s almost too hot even for that!  Hopefully it’s a bit cooler where you are and you can get outside to enjoy your weekend.  But in the meantime…

Vintage Airmail-Inspired Wedding Invitations

These gorgeous airmail-inspired wedding invitations come to us from Erin at Lucky Luxe. Erin’s bride and groom, Gabriella and Peter, were inspired by their shared love of travel.  Erin combined the vintage airmail design with the idea of a handwritten letter for an unbelievably gorgeous and completely romantic result!

From Erin: Gabriella was originally envisioning a vintage airline ticket suite as a nod to their love for travel.  I began to imagine something Hemingway inspired — love letters sent from around the globe, handwritten and imperfect, personal and cherished, with drips and puddles of fountain ink adorning the corners of each piece.

I love how the design includes the splotches and splatters of ink wells – all letterpress printed along with the invitation text – in keeping with the overall feel of an antique hand-written letter.

An airmail border was letterpress printed in red and blue on each envelope.  Beautiful calligraphy by Holland Wilson.

Erin lined each envelope with a print of a vintage map on beautiful linen paper.

Erin tells me that this is her favorite invitation suite that she’s ever designed at Lucky Luxe – and I completely agree!  Check out more from Erin right here and here!

Kids Party Invitations, Part 3

This week, I’ve selected a few more kids party invitations to feature – ranging from girly to goofy.  First up, these playful yet sophisticated (well, at least as sophisticated as you can be for a 2 year-old) birthday party invitations from Chellé Paperie.  The tiny celebrant has a fondness for poodles, so the ladies at Chellé Paperie incorporated that love into the invitation in the form of a poodle silhouette – what a fun idea!

Next up, these garden-inspired letterpress invitations from Jennifer at The Paper Peony.  Jennifer kept things girly and fun with a pink and green color palette, as well as birds, butterflies, and little vines and flowers throughout the invitation:

The Dr. Seuss books were some of my favorites to read when I was a kid, so I was super excited when Amber from Sweet Life Designs sent over these Cat in the Hat-themed invitations that she did for her son’s first birthday!  Amber included a photo collage of her son wearing a Cat in the Hat hat along with the invitation, all packaged together in a red box with crinkly blue stuffing to represent Thing 1 and Thing 2.  So cute!
