Shimmery Metallic Moon and Stars Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! We have two absolutely GORGEOUS wedding invitation suites to share with you today! We’re kicking things off with these shimmery metallic moon and stars wedding invitations from Caroline of Lovely Paper Things. I absolutely love all the constellation details that Caroline incorporated throughout the suite, and how gorgeous is the screen printed gold ink over shimmery silver paper? So much sparkle!

From Caroline: When Amber was a little girl, her mom would tell her stories about the moon, and as she grew up she cherished those special tales. Fast forward a few years, to when Heather of Amorology and I were brainstorming for Amber and Jason’s wedding invitation suite. I was immediately inspired to integrate the moon into their wedding invitation design!

The couple knew they wanted their special day to be a black tie, garden affair with very special and personal touches. So I decided to use a combination of painted moon and silhouetted floral illustrations – as though the moon was creating gorgeous floral shadows in a night garden!

Delighting and surprising a couple (and their guests) is one of my favorite things to do, so I had a special die made so that when the invitations arrived, tucked inside their screen printed pouches, they would show a quarter moon. And as the guests opened them up a full moon would be revealed! Hooray!

We used shimmer tone silver paper and custom amber-gold screen printed ink to achieve a romantic, warm look on the invitations, details card, website card, and moon phase cards. The silver paper and gold ink twinkled like star dust! And if that wasn’t enough, the constellations on the response card envelopes were letterpress printed and paired with envelopes with digitally printed liners in a beautiful lunar grey. And as it turns out, the couple was married on a new moon, which was the perfect way to start their happily ever after! Cheers to the sweetest couple and their marvelous moon dance!

Virginia Countryside Wedding Invitations

While we’re on the subject of flowers today, how pretty are these Virginia countryside wedding invitations from Lauren at Darling + Pearl? The invitation suite was inspired by the wedding venue in the heart of Virginia wine country. I’m loving the whimsical letterpress printed confetti pattern paired with vintage-inspired magnolia envelope liners. And the bride even did her own calligraphy for some of the invitation text and addressed her own envelopes!

From Lauren: The wedding invitations for Loren and Daniel’s wedding were a true collaborative effort. The inspiration was drawn mainly by the location of their wedding and the venue: Keswick Hall at Monticello in the Virginia countryside. Loren and Daniel’s entire suite was letterpress printed in burgundy and silver and was presented with mixed color envelopes (which has become somewhat of a Darling + Pearl signature).

Loren practices calligraphy and was really interested in using her own handwriting for her invitations. Loren provided me with the artwork for their names which was then processed into a printing plate along with the rest of the design. After the invitations were delivered, Loren also addressed each envelope by hand in calligraphy.

I wanted to create an invitation suite where each piece was different and exciting and walked the line of both traditional and unique. The envelope liners really pulled the suite together and added even more flavor – with the added bonus of Magnolia trees being a significant detail in the couple’s life. This was the first project that really had me stepping outside of my comfort zone as far as choosing less expected colors and patterns to line the sending envelopes.

Leap Day Birthday Party Invitations

Any leap day babies out there? Or anyone WITH leap day babies of their own? Well, this one is for you! Lauren at Darling + Pearl just happens to have a leap day baby, and they’re super excited to celebrate this year! Lauren put together these really cute monster-themed leap day birthday party invitations, and because she’s a letterpress printer she just had to give herself a little extra challenge in the printing department. So cute!

From Lauren: Here’s a project that is SO close to my heart. Not too many people care about, much less celebrate, leap day, BUT it’s my son’s birthday! And we’ve waited so impatiently for FOUR YEARS to see it on the calendar!

These invitations were mixed media- one color letterpress printed in black and flat printed full color details on 110lb fluorescent white cotton stock. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was signing on for with registration this tight, but the best times to push the envelope is on personal projects and I can’t stop staring at them!

Declan is kind of obsessed with his stuffed animal entourage at the moment – some of them being dinosaurs (his 3rd birthday theme) and monsters – so when it came time to decide on a birthday theme, like 2 weeks ago, (hah! things are more and more lax at the years go on, and children multiply – am I right?) monsters for a monstrous leap day celebration seemed to fit the ticket.

I used kraft envelopes, since I generally like to keep it neutral, and ribbed metallic green fine paper envelope liners. AND vintage stamps! In the meantime I also created a little art print that we can hang in his room, one to share with his leap day buddy, Charlotte, and obviously one to hang in my print studio.

Modern Watercolor Gem Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! And apologies for the unexpected radio silence over the last few days. I got the flu! And not the kind of flu that you can muddle your way through, but the kind of flu that just totally knocks you out for three days straight. But now I’m (thankfully) feeling much, much better. Can I make it up to you with some gorgeous wedding invitations? I love absolutely every detail in these modern watercolor gem wedding invitations from Meghan of And Here We Are. The colors! The whimsical gemstone shapes! The brushstroke envelope liners!

Modern Watercolor Gem Wedding Invitations by And Here We Are / Oh So Beautiful Paper

From Meghan: Last year we moved our studio (and ourselves) from Brooklyn, New York to Columbus, Ohio. A few days before we loaded up our covered wagon and headed west, we were invited to participate in one last inspirational wedding shoot as local Brooklyners. The shoot took place at one of our favorite local haunts, Glasserie, and was inspired by our old neighborhood, Greenpoint. Think: artisinal cocktails, geodes, fur, raw wood and unpolished bronze. We were asked to provide an invitation suite, menus, and some other paper goods.

We were especially inspired by bright, rich jewel tones, and shapes. I used my biggest brush pen — absolutely loaded with ink — to create bold, modern script lettering and patterns, and then brought it into the computer to combine it with a custom watercolor-filled gem artwork and clean typography. Each piece was digitally printed and then cut down into gem shapes. Pairing these pieces with an assortment of gem toned envelopes lined with an inky brush pattern gave it one more burst of color.

We extended these visuals to create vertical gem-shaped menus, square favor tags, and round coasters.

Green and White Nature-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I’m (obviously) a big fan of pink, but I feel like green is kind of having a moment right now – especially this gorgeous shade of deep emerald green! And emerald green looks just completely incredible when paired with crisp white and elegant gold! Inspired by Douglas Fir trees in the Pacific Northwest, these elegant and earthy green and white nature-inspired wedding invitations from Laura of Tuktu Paper Co. feature emerald green letterpress printed text with a blind (no ink) impression pattern of Douglas Fir trees and gold envelope liners. A gold wax seal serves as the perfect finishing touch!

From Laura: I love emulating the beauty of the Pacific Northwest into wedding invitations that I create for couples getting married on Vancouver Island, and this particular suite was no exception. This small, intimate wedding is being held on a beach in Tofino, British Columbia, and the couple’s only guidance was for the design to have two Douglas Fir trees – and that they both love gold and green.

Using extra thick Crane cotton paper to provide a deep blind impression for the Douglas Fir trees gives the invitations a beautiful, tangible quality. I wanted to match the green with a deep gold for an elegant and earthy design. We used hand-dyed gold paper for the envelope liners and a hint of green in the gold wax seal to bring everything together in a thoughtful way.
