Woodland Papercuts Wedding Invitations

I’m a long-time fan of the beautiful art of papercutting, from greeting cards to artwork to ketubahs and marriage certificates.  So when artist Naomi Shiek sent over her collection of stunning woodland papercut wedding invitations, well, let’s just say it was love at first sight.  Naomi draws her inspiration from nature, with each lovely design focuses on a specific botanical theme.

From Naomi:  I am a huge fan of tactile stationery, I think there’s nothing more beautiful than feeling the images as well as seeing them.  My inspiration is always nature and folklore.  I enjoy the process of papercutting and the imagery is influenced by the slow reveal of the silhouette during the cutting process.  With my invitations & reply cards I wanted to create nature scenes with an air of romance and mystique about them and I wanted the handmade craft to show through.  There are seven pre-made designs in the collection: Wings, Dandelion, Peonies In Bloom, Big Flower, Deer Beloved, Fern, and Bamboo.  Each design includes an invitation and reply card.

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  Do you have anything fun planned for your weekend?  Despite my enthusiasm for the cherry blossoms, it’s still pretty cold and wintery here, so I have a feeling I’ll be spending most of the weekend bundled up as I try to check things off my to-do list.  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

Jessica + Steven’s Retro Black and White Wedding Invitations

How fun are these wedding invitations from Product Superior?  John and Jenn created these invitations for a recent wedding, and I’m loving the playful retro vibe!  With the crisp black and white color palette (and a few well-placed touches of gold), the invitations and accompanying day-of pieces have lots of masculine elements designed to please both the bride and groom – all while conveying a fun and festive atmosphere to the wedding guests.

Beth and Matthew’s South African Wedding Invitations

Happy first day of spring everyone!  We’re starting the week off with a set of cool letterpress wedding invitations all the way from South Africa!  Vanessa from Essie Letterpress sent over these invitations and save the dates that she recently created for the upcoming wedding of their friends Beth and Matthew.  Vanessa incorporated vintage-inspired and botanical imagery into both the invitations and save the dates to produce a design that truly represents the bride and groom.

From Vanessa: Beth is one of my oldest and dearest friends, so we were only too happy when she asked that we design and print their wedding invitations!  First we designed save the dates: a heart made up of images symbolizing the bride and groom.  After that, we worked closely with Beth and Matt to design their ultimate wedding invitation.

Beth and Matthew are getting married on a school field in the middle of Johannesburg with a wonderful view of nature.  They wanted an invitation that reflected their relaxed outdoor wedding and a sense of old-wordly charm.  Matt is obsessed with aloe plants, (they are using them as favours in the wedding) so wanted to include them in both the invitations and save the dates. The invitations are quite large (A5) and are printed on a 280gsm thick ivory card stock with navy ink to complement the wedding colour scheme.

Wedding Invitations – Satsuma Press

As much as I love it when couples take risks with their wedding invitation design, there’s just something about a clean, simple, and timeless wedding invitation that gets me every single time.  So of course I’m loving the latest wedding invitation designs from Lynn at Satsuma Press.  The design with the tiny hearts is my favorite…
