{happy weekend!}

I haven’t shared any photos of Sophie recently, so I thought I’d end the week with a little update on my sweet little girl. She’s 2.5 months now (11 weeks to be exact), smiling up a storm, and interested in everything and everyone. She had a blast meeting new friends and family members over Thanksgiving weekend! I also hinted on twitter earlier this week that we’ve encountered some sleeping issues, so I’m one tired mama these days! Sophie is at the stage where she really wants to be awake for longer stretches but just can’t quite handle it, so we’re trying to find the right balance between awake time and nap time during the day so that we both minimize her meltdowns and can hopefully get her to sleep for longer stretches at night. I think I might do cartwheels the first night we get 6 or more hours out of her! Seriously. Anyway, this weekend we’re hoping to check out Holiday Heap in Baltimore and maybe even visit the National Aquarium (I’ve never been!). But in the meantime…

That’s it for me this week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

Calligraphy Inspiration: Linea Carta

I’ve always admired the work of Linea Carta‘s Diva Pyari. I’m sure you’ve seen her work around the OSBP block before. She has a style all her own and it’s certainly hard to forget! You may have also seen Diva’s writing on the big screen, or in Martha Stewart Weddings. I’m sure you can see why; elegant, dynamic, endlessly romantic, with beautiful illustrations to boot! Not that she needs it. Diva’s writing in itself is a work of art. – Julie

Diva’s calligraphy oozes character. Not so perfect that you can’t tell it’s hand written, her work gives an air of old love letters from days past.

With a hint of custom illustration or perhaps calligraphy on porcelain, (such a wonderful idea for Save the Dates!) Diva knows how to make her work stand out from the rest.

And of course, you must check out the Linea Carta shop, filled with all sorts of goodies. From napkins to address stamps to calligraphy starter kits; Diva has plenty of gorgeous items to ogle over. Be sure to take a look!

Pretty Paper in the Office: Rulers

Without a doubt, the one item I always need with me is a ruler. I even carry a mini tape dispenser in my bag. Depending on your workspace, a ruler can be indispensable! As with many other desk accessories, rulers come in all shapes, sizes, and materials. Which worked out nicely for me as I wanted to round up some diverse but stylish options for you to choose from. Whether you’re sketching in pixels, making a note of a measurement, or just getting crafty, these rulers will keep your work on the straight and narrow. – Julie

Seasonal Stationery: 2013 Calendars, Part 3

Usually by this time of year I already have my favorite calendar picked out, but this year it seems like a fantastic new calendar is released every week if not every day! I’m still updating the 2013 calendar round up page with all the new releases, and today I thought I’d share a few of the recent additions!  I’m particularly smitten with the cyanotype calendar from Campbell Raw Press below – each individual print (in an edition of 60 calendars) is one of a kind!

Leah + Adam’s Calligraphy and Kraft Paper Wedding Invitations

Good morning everyone!  The past few days have been cold and rather dreary, so I’m happily brightening my morning with these gorgeous save the dates and wedding invitations from Kathryn at Blackbird Letterpress.  For this invitation suite, Kathryn combined two of my favorite things – romantic calligraphy and rustic kraft paper.  So perfect for a backyard fall wedding!

From Kathryn: Leah and Adam’s wedding was held outside in a beautiful backyard, with lots of lights strung about in the tall trees.  We used strings of lights as the main illustration for the invitation suite, which was accented with the elegance of Betsy Dunlap‘s calligraphy.

Leah was first inspired by Laura’s kraft paper save the dates.  We took that as inspiration to start and used the tri-fold with photo idea and made it fit her style.  The entire suite was printed on a combination of fluorescent white cotton paper, kraft chipboard and envelopes, steel gray ink.

We also printed CD sleeves for the mix CDs that Leah and Adam made for guests as wedding favors.  And thank you notes were important for the post-wedding etiquette.

Thanks so much Kathryn!
