Inspired By: Neon!

I’ve been in love with the neon design trend since May, when the bright fluorescent colors made a big splash at several exhibitor booths at the National Stationery Show.  More recently, I’ve been pleased to see neon used as accents for wedding invitations, from envelopes (like Jon and Alecia) to edge painting.  So today I thought I’d do a little round up of awesome neon paper goods and accessories!

No. 1 Neon wedding invitation edge painting by Delphine; No. 2 Nutcracker print with orange neon details by Bombina Studios; No. 3 Neon twine (available here in multiple colors) by Angela Hardison via You Are My Fave; No. 4 Gift tags by Knot & Bow (and more from Lox + Savvy here); No. 5 Neon washi tape (also available here) via Minimega; No. 6 Neon crayons from MOMA; No. 7 Neon letterpress greeting cards by Fig. 2 Design Studio; No. 8 Neon papercut wedding invitations by Love Citron

These aren’t made from paper, but I couldn’t resist including these gorgeous scarves with neon details from lemlem.  So, so pretty.

Pretty Paper in the Office: Yellow + Black

Today I’m thrilled to introduce a new monthly column on Oh So Beautiful Paper about pretty stationery for your office!  Whether you work in a cubicle or a home office, well-designed office supplies – from notepads to labels to everything in between – can make your day sooo much nicer.  For our first installment, we’re inspired by a classic color combination – yellow and black!

There’s no disputing that fall is here.  Everywhere I look, colors are changing from green to yellow.  I can’t help but smile every time I step out the door!  Why not bring that splash of color into our ho-hum office stationery?  A few hits of yellow here and there can really brighten up a workspace.  I’ve put together a round up of a favorite combination, yellow and black, in hopes of making daily tasks and to-do lists a little less routine.

Finally this kilim weave monarch note set by SusyJack* is the perfect go-to notecard whether you’re sending out a quick thank you or invite to lunch.  Isn’t this kilim pattern great?  I don’t think I’ll ever tire of textile inspired papers.

Seasonal Stationery: Halloween Cards

It’s October, which means Halloween is just around the corner!  I know this particular holiday isn’t for everyone, but it was my favorite holiday as a kid.  I loved coming up with costume ideas, decorating the house, dressing up in costumes (which were homemade more often than not), and of course the candy!   For those of you who love Halloween as much as I do, here are a few awesome cards (and a couple of party invitations) to help get the fun started!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  I’m super excited for this weekend – tomorrow is Crafty Bastards, the DC area’s biggest craft fair!  Is anyone going?  I go every year and always have the best time wandering all the different booths at the show.  I can’t wait!  But in the meantime…

Photo by me.  A few fall flowers and some fresh basil that I picked up at the farmer’s market yesterday. The basil is such a lovely addition to the bouquet!

…a few links for your weekend!

I’m also super excited to announce that the lovely Jackie of 42 Pressed is celebrating her return from maternity leave (you might remember their adorable baby shower invitations) with a fun promotion!  Jackie is offering free save the dates to couples who order their wedding invitation suite from 42 Pressed.  Just enter code RILEYKICKOFF when ordering!

This week on Oh So Beautiful Paper:

That’s it for me this week!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

Amy + Patrick’s Wedding Ceremony Program Fans

As much as I adore wedding invitations, I love it when couples put some thought and energy into their day-of stationery.  Designer and letterpress printer Stephanie Laursen sent over these fun ceremony programs that she created for recent clients Amy and Patrick.  Stephanie incorporated the wedding color palette of yellow and gray along with the bride’s love of antique wood type into a clean yet vintage-inspired design.

From Stephanie: Amy & Patrick wanted a low key wedding, with sunny pops of yellow and cool gray hues.  They wanted a hand-printed program to give to guests, both as a functional piece to be used at the event, and as something to take home to remember the day.  Amy loves blocks of type, and mixtures of different fonts, and wanted the program to have a vintage wood type feel.

Thanks Stephanie!
