{happy weekend!}

This weekend feels like the last weekend of summer – I know we still have a few weeks before Fall officially arrives, but the sun is setting earlier every evening and it’s definitely getting cooler.  Another sign that Fall is approaching?  2011 calendars.  They were everywhere at the Gift Fair and I’m starting to see some pop up online.  If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know that I do big calendar round-ups each year, and I’m looking forward to continuing the tradition this September.  Designers, if you’d like to submit your calendar for this year’s round-ups, just shoot me an e-mail with photos right here!  But in the meantime…

…a few links for your weekend!

And in case you missed anything, a summary of this week’s posts:

That’s it for me this week – I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all back here on Monday!

NSS 2010 – Part 10

Before I wrap up my coverage of this year’s National Stationery Show tomorrow, I’ve got a few more booths that I’d like to share with you.  First up, another perennial favorite – Fugu Fugu Press – with their incredibly sweet letterpress cards and new fill-in-the-blank letterpress dinner party invitations:

I’m always impressed by the work from Maginating Letterpress – from the adorable characters to the near-perfect letterpress registration on each card, no detail is overlooked:

I also stopped by the Pearl & Marmalade and The Great Lakes booth to check out their latest cards, prints, and get a sneak peek at their upcoming 2011 calendars:

I spent some time catching up with Carrie and Hal from Red Cap Cards and checking out their latest greeting cards (I always love Carrie’s illustrated Halloween cards), notebooks, and a new series of cards featuring a collaboration with illustrator Blanca Gomez:

Over on the other side of the Javits Center, I probably could have spent an hour just in the Egg Press booth gawking at all of their new cards – not to mention the new wrapping paper!

Old School Stationers also had a bunch of new botanical prints for this year’s show – my favorites are the bees and mason jar prints below – as well as new installments in their series of animal prints and cards:

I always love stopping by the Blue Barnhouse booth — Brandon’s letterpress cards are both impeccably printed and completely hilarious:

Of course, a trip to the Stationery Show wouldn’t be complete (at least for me) without a trip over to the Smock booth to check out their latest wedding invitations and everyday stationery designs:

NSS 2010 – Part 8

This next group of booths from the Stationery Show includes a few of the booths that managed to fit an incredible amount of personality into their tiny space!  First up, Enormous Champion, with tons of details from their Kingdom Animalia series and letterpress stationery all the way to their customized booth sign offering free high fives, hugs, and handshakes:

Night Owl Paper Goods had one of my favorite booth designs at last year's show, and this year did not disappoint!  The booth was totally full of Night Owl's signature wood veneer stationery and letterpress cards, as well as new notebooks and a sneak peek at their 2011 calendars:

Over at the Sycamore Street Press booth, Eva and Kirk used charcoal gray fabric backdrops and a sweet paper garland to highlight their new letterpress cards, prints, and 2011 poster-style calendar:

Even with a more minimalist booth design, the Old Tom Foolery booth is a must-visit at each year's Stationery Show.  This year, Joel and Lauren debuted a poster field guide to typestaches (mustaches created from different fonts) and a new headline collection of greeting cards:

Old-Tom-Foolery-NSS1
Old-Tom-Foolery-NSS4{in keeping with Old Tom Foolery's signature typestache, each booth visitor was asked to pose with an OTM typestache-on-a-stick — can you spot me and Ami in the mix?}

I always love stopping by the Two Trick Pony booth at the Stationery Show — the bold stripes and bright colors make for a very happy booth environment!  And this year, in addition to their collection of screen printed note cards and invitations, you can check out a peek at Two Trick Pony's first ever calendar:

Ami and I stopped by the Twig & Fig booth to check out their latest greeting cards and invitation designs — the team at Twig & Fig has also been working with some pretty unusual materials recently, like the hot pink acrylic invitation below!

And last up for this group, Hammerpress, with some of my all-time favorite Valentine's Day cards, as well as other holiday cards, calendars, note cards, and prints:

NSS 2010 – Part 7

This was the first year that Kathryn from Blackbird Letterpress exhibited at NSS, and it was so nice to finally meet her in person!  I've got a gorgeous wedding invitation suite from Kathryn to share with you all a bit later on, but in the meantime let's take a look at her booth from the show!

I had a wonderful time visiting the Red Oak Press booth — their letterpress stationery and baby announcements had such beautiful impressions and registration that I had to resist the urge to touch each and every individual piece:

Jack and Lulu had one of the most impossibly adorable booths at this year's NSS — just look at the watering can name signs!  I loved the nautical theme, all the way down to the bag of flags and Union Jack coasters:

NSS 2010 – Part 6

This next group of booths happens to include several with some of my favorite overall booth design or decor details — from Hello Lucky's coffee filter garland to Linda & Harriett's vintage post card border.  First up, the Regas New York booth, filled with both amazing letterpress stationery and some pretty incredible decor details, including tissue paper flowers and amazing wire displays created by Meredith's mom!

Liz from Linda & Harriett always puts together an amazing booth display, and this year was no exception.  Liz incorporated a border of vintage post cards on the wall displaying her 2011 calendar, and tissue paper streamers on the wall displaying her new letterpress birthday calendar — both of which are destined to be a huge hit later this year:

In addition to fantastic stationery, I loved all the cute details over at Cat Seto — from the fabric rosettes to the hand-drawn armoire fabric display:

The ladies from Hello!Lucky created one of my favorite booths from NSS 2009, and luckily my expectations were also met for this year's show.  The team rescued a few of the pink coffee filter garland's created for Eunice's wedding last year as a lovely complement to grosgrain ribbon displays for all of the new Hello!Lucky cards and prints:

As a girl with a weakness for vintage stamps and ribbon (not to mention gorgeous letterpress stationery), I was pretty much in heaven over at the combined booth of Carta, Inc. and Albertine Press.  So between Angela's new francobolli line of vintage stamp greeting cards and Shelley's letterpress library, what more could I possibly ask for?
