Sophisticated Letterpress Birth Announcements for Baby Adler

I’m absolutely in love with these sophisticated baby announcements from Lisa at Missive – from the 1950s-inspired typography and subtle touches of gold foil to the beveled edges and gold envelope liner.  Lisa was inspired by the turquoise and gold wallpaper that she chose for Adler’s bedroom, and the resulting design is an elegant way to announce the arrival of a little gentleman!

From Lisa: My son Adler’s announcements were inspired by the design of his nursery, in particular, the turquoise, black, and antique gold wallpaper that hangs on the wall behind his crib. I used this color palette as a starting point to create a sophisticated letterpress announcement for my little gentleman.

To infuse a little history and personal sentiment into the design, I scanned the text that reads “Announcing” from a vintage 1950s birth announcement — my own mother’s — and created a clean, deco style to complement it.

I added special touches like beveled corners on the card and photo, and with the help of our good friend and fellow printer Tim Butler of Quality Letterpress, added foil stamping in an antique gold color to match the envelope liners.

Thanks so much Lisa!  And congratulations on baby Adler!

Graphic and Modern Birth Announcements for Baby Theo

It’s baby week here at Oh So Beautiful Paper!  Well, not completely – but since I’m welcoming my first baby this week and my friend Lisa from Good on Paper recently welcomed her second baby, adorable little Theo, there is definitely quite a bit of happy baby energy in the air this week.  For Theo’s baby announcements, Lisa opted for a simple and modern design accented with a graphic envelope liner.  Such a sweet way to welcome their newest little boy!

From Lisa: For baby #2, I wanted a simple design (a lot less free time the second time around!) which included a photo of Theo and a bunch of little details about the origin of his name as well as a family photo on the back. The charcoal gray envelopes were lined with a coordinating striped liner which said, “Say Hello To” when opened, and then wrapped with custom address labels.

{happy weekend – and a quick update}

Happy Friday everyone!  I was already excited for this weekend – our baby shower is on Sunday and I’m really looking forward to seeing our friends and family members coming to town to help celebrate.  And remember last week, when I said that it looked like the baby might be coming a bit earlier than expected?  Well, next week is the big week!  I have a bunch of fun posts ready for you all for next week – including an AWESOME giveaway coming up on Monday that you definitely won’t want to miss – followed by some fantastic guest bloggers who will be helping to fill in while I’m away getting to know our little one for a few weeks.  But in the meantime…

Pretty + Paper

Hi Everyone!  My apologies for the unplanned absence yesterday; we actually had a pretty scary night on Monday.  My Dad came down to visit over the long weekend, and while driving us home after our final dinner together we were rear-ended by a drunk driver.  The accident could have been a lot worse, but since I’m 36 weeks pregnant any accident or trauma is major cause for concern and I ended up spending the night at the hospital while the doctors monitored the baby to make sure everything was okay.  Thankfully we’re all totally fine (aside from being a bit sore from the accident itself), and I’m incredibly grateful to be safe and sound and back at home.  I’m slowly easing myself back into my routine – so today I thought I’d start with something pretty (and geometric!) for a bit of inspiration.

{happy weekend!}

This has been quite a whirlwind of a week and a long weekend is just what I need to help recover.  My husband and I are approaching the last phase of our first pregnancy, and earlier this week we found out that our baby will be making a slightly earlier entrance than originally expected – possibly in just a couple of weeks!  To be honest, I’m both a little freaked out by our new accelerated timeframe, worried about making sure that our baby stays healthy, and excited to finally meet this little person!  But in the meantime…
