Modern Birth Announcements for Baby Lucas

For a modern birth announcement design, the announcement that Lisa from Good on Paper created for her baby boy Lucas might just be the cutest ever.  From the stripe edging to the delicate balance of the horizontal format, I love every detail!

Lisa designed the letterpress announcements (printed by Paper Monkey Press) before Lucas’s birth, leaving a space for a photo when they were ready to be assembled and mailed.  After Lucas was born, Lisa created a sweet (and practical!) wrap-around label with both the photo and all of Lucas’s birth details.

Pink Birth Announcements for Baby Miriam!

You might remember Bonnie’s fantastic “bun in the oven” baby shower invitations from back in April (not to mention the super cute shower!).  Well, baby Miriam arrived back in June, and Bonnie is back to share Miriam’s birth announcements!

Bonnie paired a pink color palette with illustrated touches for her baby girl’s announcement.  Bonnie said that Miriam came into the world with big eyes and a little circular mouth, just like a little owl!  So of course the owl served as inspiration during the design process.

Demi + Vincent’s Victorian Vineyard Wedding Invitations

Victorian and vineyard aren’t words that usually go together, but in the case of this wedding invitation from Dingbat Press, they definitely do!  Adrienne from Dingbat Press created these invitations for a bride who wanted something a bit different for her vineyard wedding, while still reflecting the elegance of the wedding style and venue.

From Adrienne:  With the wedding venue located in a beautiful vineyard in California, Demi wanted to tie in the feeling of the location without going overboard on a vineyard cliché.  These invitations were designed based off of a vintage monogram found in a victorian-era story-book and then adapted with her initial and simple typography so as to not compete with the ornate monogram.

The invitations were letterpress printed on 110# cotton paper in chocolate and sage green, along with an rsvp card and a directions enclosure card.

Handlettering Cite

I just spent waaaay too much time Handlettering Cite, the blog of hand lettering artist Alex Savakis – which he fills with quotes from Ghandi to Mark Twain (and everyone in between) in his own lettering styles.  There are some serious gems, both in quotes and lettering styles, so it was hard to pick out just a couple of favorites:

famous quotes in calligraphy - helen keller famous quotes in calligraphy - ghandi

famous quotes in calligraphy - golda meir famous quotes in calligraphy - st augustine

Check out the rest (and maybe suggest a quote or two for Alex to consider) over at Handlettering Cite!
