Stationery Show Sneak Peek – Hello!Lucky and Fawnsberg

Happy Friday everyone!  I have a couple of final National Stationery Show sneak peeks to help close out the week.  One of my favorite calligraphers, Primele, is making their Stationery Show debut with a new stationery line called Fawnsberg.  I’m loving the pretty boxed note card sets with sweet illustrations and calligraphed phrases.

As a Stationery Show veteran, Hello!Lucky always impresses me with creative booth displays and an endless supply of cute paper goodies.  Here’s a quick peek at some of the cards, including collaborations with illustrators Julia Rothman and Esther Aarts, making their debut at this year’s show!

National Stationery Show Recipe Card Scavenger Hunt

Designers often have cute little promotional items at trade shows, from tote bags to pencils to yummy snacks.  Not only do they help make trade shows even more fun, but if done correctly they can also be a fun memory for years after the show (like Lisa’s awesome tote bag from last year).  For this year’s Stationery Show, Amber from Flywheel Press has partnered up with 14 amazingly talented designers and Legion Paper to create this fun letterpress recipe card promo – sort of like a letterpress scavenger hunt at the Stationery Show!

From Amber at Flywheel Press: I love how people create calendars and other clever promotions for the Stationery Show.  But I wanted to do something a little different, something without a shelf life, something that celebrates the timeless art of letterpress printing.  The idea of the recipe card seemed to work hand in hand with celebrating the diversity and collaborative essence of the letterpress community.

If you happen to be attending the Stationery Show next week, don’t forget to collect each recipe card!  Here’s a list of all the participating companies and booth numbers:

Have I mentioned that the National Stationery Show is next week?  Yeah, I’m just a teensy bit excited – it’s my favorite week of the year!  It’s been fun to see some of my favorite stationers gearing up for the show this week.  I always look forward to the new colorful and creative designs from Yellow Owl Workshop, and today Evan and Christine are sharing a sneak peek at some of the new cards making their official debut at the show!

Jackie + Tyler’s Gray and Gold Baby Shower Invitations

Okay, prepare yourself for some serious cuteness.  Jackie from 42 Pressed and her husband Tyler are expecting a baby girl in just a few weeks, and today Jackie is here to share her baby shower invitations!  Jackie was inspired by the gray and gold nursery color palette and crib bedding – resulting in a baby shower invitation that is both modern and super adorable.

From Jackie:  At first we were going to wait to find out if it was going to be a boy or a girl but for obvious reasons we just couldn’t stand waiting, but before we knew it was a girl we basically chose to go with a grey and gold color palette, with pops of color and various other textures.

I fell in love with Oh Joy’s Petal Pusher wallpaper from Hygge & West, so we put that up on the main wall.  We also put up all the wainscoting to break up the grey walls a bit and to give it a little bit more light.

For the shower invitations, we wanted them to be fun and playful, her name will be “Riley Magnolia Robinson” so my sister came up with the saying “Let’s shower our flower” and then I basically designed around that.  There are lots of giraffes in the nursery and I am so in love my crib bedding by Dwell Studio, we basically drew from that inspiration.

I thought that it would be fun to incorporate our nursery colors within the belly band, that way people could buy décor if they wanted or make things, I have some pretty crafty friends so I was sure that would come in handy!

So cute Jackie!  Congratulations on your newest addition!  For more from 42 Pressed, check out their custom portfolio right here!

International Biscuit Festival Invitations

Now this sounds like a fun party!  Sarah from The Happy Envelope sent over these invitations that she printed for the upcoming International Biscuit Festival (who knew?) over Memorial Day Weekend in Knoxville.  Sarah combined multiple typefaces and letterpress printing in chocolate and chartreuse inks for a southern-meets-swanky invitation to the festival’s fundraising brunch.  Any Top Chef fans out there?  You might recognize the name of the festival’s guest chef

From Sarah: Everybody loves biscuits! The International Biscuit Festival is a huge weekend event held in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.  This year, Guest Chef Michelle Bernstein will be participating in a special fundraising event to raise money for Share Our Strength, so the hosts of the event wanted to send out invitations that were luxurious and swanky while still maintaining the casual, laid-back mood of the Biscuit Festival.

The invitation and reply postcard are letterpress printed in chocolate ink on ultra-thick 220 lb board.  The reverse side picnic pattern on the invitation is letterpress in a chartreuse ink.  All pieces were wrapped up together with mocha and white threaded baker’s twine in multiple wrap with knot.  The Biscuit Benefit Dinner pieces was printed on standard 110# letterpress stock and matted with chocolate brown stock to create a dark border on the white paper.  Khaki envelopes were flat printed with chocolate ink reply card.
