Toronto-based calligrapher Barbara Kua sent over some of her recent work, and I couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you! Â Barbara has a lovely and whimsical calligraphy style, with lots of cute little swirls and hand drawn frames to give envelopes, menus, and wedding invitations a little something extra.

I’ve had these illustrated wedding invitations by Will Bryant bookmarked for the longest time, and since things are starting to warm up here in DC (fingers crossed for an early spring!) I decided today was the day to finally share them. Â With the sunny yellow, orange, and blue color palette and playful hand lettering, these invitations are totally perfect for a summer picnic wedding

This gorgeous destination wedding invitation from Curious & Company might be one color, but with beautiful calligraphy from Neither Snow and subtle texture details from the letterpress printing the design rises to a whole new level.  Brooke from Curious & Company sent over this lovely invitation created for a destination wedding in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada – take a look!
From Brooke: Hannah came to us looking for an invitation suite that would highlight the Lake Las Vegas location of her wedding, while not being overly “destination-y” in terms of design, and also taking her budget into consideration. Â We worked with a lovely shade of blue, created patterns to reflect her modern style and show off the letterpress texture, and also worked in a subtle map motif of Lake Las Vegas.
Calligraphy from the talented Mara of Neither Snow was the perfect accent that we worked into the invitation and two response postcards – one for the wedding, and another for the day-after brunch.
Printed by Cleanwash Letterpress, this suite is a wonderful example of how a one color letterpress suite can still be beautiful and interesting without the cost of additional ink colors.

Happy Friday everyone! Â Do you all have anything fun planned for this weekend? Â I’ve been busy this week making lots of changes to my apartment in preparation for some bigger changes over the next couple of weeks, and my Dad is coming down from New Jersey to help with some of the two-person tasks. Â It’s so nice to have him relatively close by, particularly while my husband is overseas, and I’m looking forward to some quality family time. Â But in the meantime…

I have a secret love for anything that sparkles – including glitter!  Elpitha from Print in Cursive sent over these invitations that she recently printed for an upcoming engagement party.  The invitation was letterpress printed in shades of gray to reflect the chilly winter weather in Salt Lake City, and then hand glittered for just a bit of sparkle!
From Elpha:Â This engagement invitation is greatly influenced by the bride’s sense of style and the subtle color landscape of chilly winter weather. Â Magda wanted her invitation to be fun and casual, with a little bit of sparkle. Â Each invitation was printed in 4 runs on the press using extra thick cotton Lettra stock and then hand glittered in copper to match the envelope.
