{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  We’re currently in upstate New York for a few days to spend time with my husband’s family, including our nieces + nephew, before the baby arrives in just a couple of months (eek!).  It’s also really nice to escape the heat and humidity of DC for a few days!  Today I’m heading out a bit early and hoping you all have a wonderful weekend!  But in the meantime…

Molly’s Zoo Theme Holiday Card + Moving Announcement

After moving to a new home and welcoming a second child, Molly from Paisley Quill decided to get super creative with her family’s annual holiday card – combining all three into one package!  Molly embraced the recent chaos, going with a fun zoo theme for the entire package accented with cute plastic zoo animals and lots of fun vintage stamps.

From Molly:  This year has been rather crazy for us.  We had another baby and purchased a new home that required lots of renovations in a short amount of time.  Needless to say, I fell behind on my correspondence.  So this year, I decided that it was high time I got caught up and sent everything out together.

In a little blue box, I sent our son’s birth announcement, our moving announcement, and Christmas card all together.  Tied up in a pretty little package and mailed to family and friends with lots of vintage stamps.  My friend Holly from the Paper Nickel gifted me the baby buggy stamp in honor of Callahan.

Since having two kids, our life has been a ZOO!  So I ran with the concept, creating both a birth announcement and moving announcement modeled after an information card from the zoo.  I had a custom stamp made and stamped all of the glassine envelopes with our new family “crest.”  I sealed the moving announcement with the zoo animals inside the envelopes and taped them shut with fabric tape.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Fringe

Fringe certainly isn’t a new phenomenon when it comes to event decor, but recently I’ve been seeing it pop up in wedding day stationery too – and I couldn’t be happier!  Yes, it makes a fun backdrop for a ceremony or dessert bar, but it also makes a fantastic addition to place cards, menus, and table numbers!  If your stationery doesn’t come pre-fringed, adding a little bit to your calligraphed place cards or letterpress printed menus is a great DIY touch. — Kelly

Michelle + Martin’s Classic Purple Edge Painted Wedding Invitations

These sophisticated wedding invitations from Courtney Callahan Paper combine modern patterns with pops of color and a classic calligraphy font – all letterpress printed on soft and thick cotton paper.  I love the bold dose of color from the purple envelope liner and edge painting!

From Courtney: Michelle and Marty, a NYC-based couple, have a dynamite sense of style and wanted a fresh, modern wedding invitation suite that also incorporated their wedding colors, slate and plum.  Mixing bold patterns is one of my favorite design techniques, so when a bride tells me she is not afraid of pattern – it’s music to my ears!

Letterpress printed on Crane’s Lettra Pearl White, this oversized square invitation combined quatrefoil and geometric circles in slate with pops of plum on the invitation edging and inner envelope liner.  A flourished calligraphy font adds just a touch of timeless elegance to the overall suite.
