Kristy + Peter’s DIY Die Cut Save the Dates

Oh man you guys, after moving to our new house on Monday and trying to wrap up some loose ends at our old apartment – not to mention get settled in the new house! – I’m just completely wiped out. Luckily for me, these DIY die cut save the dates from designer Peter Hootman are bringing a smile to my face today! I love the peekaboo effect of the engagement photos behind the cut out letters on the cover. So fun!

From Peter: These are the save the dates I made for our wedding. They went out during Christmas so they had a kinda holiday flare to them with the string lights. I designed them and got the inspiration from some die cut stuff I saw on Pinterest. I wasn’t sure how we were going to actually make them till I found a Silhouette Cameo die cut machine on Amazon.

I ordered one and I ordered the paper and envelops from Paper Source, then I designed and ordered a custom rubber stamp for the back of the envelope.  We had a lot of fun playing with different fonts, but we had to modify a lot of them so they wouldn’t just fall out. It took way more work then I expected and a lot of time to cut out all the letters but it was worth it.

Aubri’s Pink + Gold Foil Business Cards

Designer Aubri Duran sent over her new business cards, and the combination of chipboard, hot pink foil, and shiny gold foil accents is so exuberant! Just the photos of her lovely cards make me smile, so I can only imagine how pretty they must be in person!

From Aubri: These are my dream business cards! I rebranded myself at the end of last year and this year was all about redoing my website and getting the perfect business card to go with my new look.

I love the luxe of cotton paper but I decided to go with the natural chip board because I wanted an organic element but also wanted to mix it with the pretty foils. A shiny gold foil was a must for me but for my second color it was either going to be pink or turquoise. After looking at lots of swatches I went with the pink and LOVED it!

Rebecca + Varun’s Lasercut and Gold Foil Wedding Invitations

The team at Atelier Isabey is known for really intricate wedding invitations, and these New Year’s Eve invitations are no exception! Margot from Atelier Isabey wanted to bring an extra sense of opulence to the design, so she incorporated gold foil and a deep aubergine color palette along with letterpress printing and lasercut details. Gorgeous!

From Margot: For a wedding taking place on New Year’s Eve we decided to bring big drama and opulence to this invitation suite using a variety of mixed media printing techniques and papers. The invitation is printed with a combination of deep letterpress and gold foil and slides inside an ornate aubergine laser cut sleeve.

We also created a one of a kind coat of arms fashioned from meaningful details and symbolism surrounding the couple. The groom was from India so we added details like a peacock (a national symbol of India) and lotus flower on their coat of arms.

The bride on the other hand was from California and went to University of California so we put a regal Golden State bear to symbolize her on the opposite side. Last but not least, he proposed to her on the Rialto bridge in Venice, thus the bridge connecting both sides together symbolically. The final presentation was as luxurious as it was unique!

Laurie + Bohb’s Travel-Inspired Vintage Stamp Save the Dates

I have a deep love for both anything travel-inspired and vintage postage stamps, so these save the dates from Allie Ruth Design are totally up my alley. Allie created a clean and simple design that incorporates her lovely hand lettering along with some gorgeous vintage stamps as the nod to the travel-inspired theme. The custom postmark in the corner is such a sweet touch.

From Allie: In working with Laurie and Bohb, my job was to come up with an invitation that was loosely inspired by travel. While their wedding would take place in a beachy locale, Laurie was very clear that she wanted to stray away from palm trees and anything cliché. I developed a concept that hinted at their venue with a crisp white color palette and sandy gold letterpress ink.

The pasted-on postage stamps from Angela Liguori add a wonderful worldly touch, each one applied individually by hand. In the corner, I stamped a custom “post marking” on each one, that included their names, wedding date, and location.

Laurie knew that she had decided to send save the dates after the “proper” time had passed, but she still wanted to go for it. To playfully comment on that, she had me create a “better late than never” rubber stamp that resembled an old post marking for the backs of the envelopes. We chose colors for the hand-written calligraphy addresses and stamped details based on the vintage postage.
