Maia’s Neon Pink Balloon 3rd Birthday Party Invitations

I’m definitely looking forward to all the fun birthday party invitations in Sophie’s future, and these adorable invitations (all the way from Holland!) are making me even more excited! Elisa from Little Inks created these invitations for her daughter Maia’s 3rd birthday party, incorporating an adorable illustration of Maia as a princess and a giant neon pink balloon. Too cute!

From Elisa: Like many little girls, Maia was turning 3 years old and wanted to have a Princess-themed birthday party. As much as I knew she would love it, I just couldn’t bring myself to use one of the Disney Princess invitations! I tried to incorporate some of the things that I knew she would love into the design, but also something that I would be happy to keep as a nice memento. Her little friends seemed quite happy to receive their invitations (one even slept with hers), so I was hoping that maybe other people might enjoy seeing them too.

The design includes hand lettering by me and the little drawing is my doodle of Maia holding her birthday balloon and her favorite toy/stuffy. The invitations are letterpress printed on Original Crown Mill 280 grams cream stock using neon pink and black ink using an Asbern ADR-1 Proof Press.

Calligraphy Inspiration: Victoria Hoke Lane

These are always my favourite posts to write. Mostly because I get to peruse portfolios of gorgeous calligraphy. Case in point: the work of Victoria Hoke Lane. Victoria is a lettering artist and graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. By the looks of it, her experience shows! Elegant and romantic, Victoria’s calligraphy serves as the centrepiece for a variety of stationery goods. Take a look and you’ll see why! – Julie

It ebbs, flows and flourishes; I love the movement in Victoria’s lettering. It’s strong enough to make a statement all its own. No need for excessive ornamentation here!

Some of Victoria’s styles are so playful and unique, you’re sure to find one that suits your own personal style.
